Since 2015, the patient fans of the book and wonderfully portrayed movie Fifty Shades of Grey have waited to view the upcoming sequel, "Fifty Shades Darker." It attracted not only the die hard fans who kept up with the books, but the sexual appeal of the book that was portrayed in the movie left all other viewers wanting more. According to Forbes, "Fifty Shades of Grey" "officially passed the $500 million mark at the worldwide box office." Not only this, it was also named "Universals third highest-grossing opening ever" (http://www.forbes.com/sites/scottmendelson/2015/03...). "Fifty Shades Darker" will be hitting the theaters on Valentine's Day of this year. Why should you take the time to see it? Whether you go to the theater on a date, or show up with a group of dateless friends, here are 5 reasons why you should be going to see "Fifty Shades Darker" this upcoming Valentines Day.

1. Erotica

Let's be real, everyone wants to have the ideal sex life. Whether it is men or women, we all compare the experiences that we have had to make sure that we are "satisfied." I believe that this is part of the reason that this trilogy has done so well. Not only does sex sell in today's society, but people are always left curious, wondering if they are missing anything that another man or woman can be experiencing. This film not only displays the underlying intimate love story that the characters experience, but it also displays Christian and Ana's sex life, which many people have mixed feelings about. Whether you are a person that desires the red room of pain, or a person that enjoys the soft gentleness of your companion, there is something extremely satisfying about the erotica in this film.

2. Controversy

When the first movie came to theaters, many people invested their time to read the books to gain an understanding of why people were so interested in the story line. Some people will tell you that much of the story is about S&M, meanwhile some people will tell you that it is an intimate love story. Either way, the media blew up with the claim that these movies were a step down from porn. This spawned a debate over whether what the characters were doing in the story was socially acceptable. I don't know about you, but coming from someone who enjoys keeping up with controversies, I needed to participate in the wrath of this debate. Not only for the entertainment factor, but also because a debate such as this can change your perspective in things that you may do and experience in your own personal life.

3. Relationships

During the original "Fifty Shades of Grey," Ana didn't even have the desire to have a boyfriend. In the first movie, we get to know Ana as a character that is more focused on where her career is going after college rather than focused on still yet having to lose her virginity. Meeting Christian changed her perspective on life. Although this may seem naive, it will be interesting to see how their relationship advances throughout the creation of the future films, especially now that we've seen that Ana has experienced a taste of Christian's world. Will Ana and Christian get their happy ever after? Will Christian's mysterious love triangle get in the way?

4. Music

The first thing that I enjoyed when sitting down to watch "Fifty Shades" would be the soundtrack. Ranging from the strangely erotic "I Put a Spell on You" by Annie Lennox to the slowed down version of "Crazy In Love" by Beyonce. This leaves me with nothing but high expectations for the new and upcoming film. Whether or not you enjoy the story itself, the soundtrack will not disappoint you.

5. This film is not just for women

Although the main audience of this genre would be women, I believe that men could benefit from having a few Christian Grey qualities. I'm not saying that every girl wants to be beaten, but we do want to be treated special and unlike anyone else. I believe that the reason Ana is interested in Christian at the level that she is would be because he is often very unexpected. Instead of asking her what he wants, he often takes it upon himself to figure it out. Moral of the story would be that guys need to see this movie to ultimately understand how to impress women with not only expressing how they feel but adding a bottle of wine every now and then. Basically, everyone should buy a helicopter and fly their girlfriend around the lights of the city.

Through these reasons, I hope that the turnout will be just as good, if not better than the showing of "Fifty Shades of Grey." Not only is this movie erotic and sexy, but it is also inspiring and let's be real, your girlfriend may love to see it on Valentines Day. Do yourself a favor, and go see "Fifty Shades Darker."

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
