5 Reasons Why Trump Is NOT The Next Reagan

Donald Trump has quickly taken the world by storm. He's all over news stations, both conservative and liberal, and a hot topic in every political conversation. One idea that you hear quite often is how Trump could be the next Ronald Reagan. As a conservative and huge supporter of all things Reagan, I find this to be absolutely false.

Here are 5 reasons why Trump is NOT the next Reagan:

1. Political Backgrounds

A huge reason why Reagan and Trump are commonly compared is the fact that they were both former Democrats. The difference is why they became Republicans. Ronald Reagan decided to leave the party when it no longer aligned with his personal beliefs, stating that "I didn't leave the Democratic Party. It left me." Trump, on the other hand, only became a Republican before he decided to run for President. He was a huge supporter of Democrat campaigns, such as the Clintons and Harry Reid. Did he have a complete change of beliefs or did he just think he had a better chance of winning the Republican nomination?

Another example of this is political experience. Reagan served two terms as Governor of California before becoming POTUS. Trump has no experience in politics other than financially supporting campaigns.

2. The First Ladies

The role of First Lady is an important one, contrary to what some might think. She is always in the public eye alongside the President and has the responsibility of being a positive image for the nation. Nancy Reagan handled this position well, always showing class and elegance. There's no way Melania Trump could fill those shoes as gracefully.

3. Movie Star vs. Reality TV Show Star

Yes, both Trump and Reagan are known for their roles on television, however, there is quite a difference. Reagan showcased his talent in several successful movies. This talent then was shown in his ability to give speeches that inspired the country. Trump had a reality TV show where he was known for being mean, which is also shown off screen.

4. Behavior

Reagan was a man of class. He gained respect from everyone he came into contact with, mostly because he showed respect. I have never heard of an instance where he was rude or disrespectful to anyone. He knew how to handle himself with grace and others admired that. Trump... Well, where do I begin? There's a new scandal involving him every day. I can't count the number of rude, hateful, and degrading comments he has made on national television. He has no regard for others and it shows. That's not the behavior a leader of this great nation should have.

5. Their Effect on the Nation

A good leader brings people together, no matter what the circumstances. Reagan did this. People from both parties had a great amount of respect for his leadership, even if they didn't personally agree with his views. Trump has literally done the opposite. He's divided the GOP and has the entire party either angry or confused. How is that supposed to make America great again?

As you can see, Trump is definitely not the next Reagan.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
