5 Reasons Why Traveling With Your Friends Is A Great Idea

This past week over spring break, I took a cruise to the Bahamas with my best friends by my side, and it was the greatest thing we could have ever done. If think traveling with your friends isn't a good idea, let me persuade you otherwise. Here are just a few reasons why you should travel with your friends by your side.

1. No matter where you are headed, as long as your friends are with you, it'll be an adventure

You can go anywhere in the world or even down the street, but having your friends with you will make it that much more fun to travel to.

2. They make you feel safe

If you've never traveled anywhere outside of your home state, having your friends with you makes you feel more comfortable and at ease. You feel less scared and overwhelmed because you know that they will have your back no matter what happens.

3. You can be yourself without the feeling of being judged

Traveling with your family is a lot different than when you travel with your friends. When you're with your family, you tend to be more on your best behavior and less worried about just enjoying yourself. But with your friends, all you do is enjoy the time together and let loose. No one is going to judge you if you get drunk and dance on a bar, or trip and fall in the middle of the street, or even dance in the middle of the mall because your favorite song is on. They make you feel comfortable enough to be yourself and not worry about the weird looks you're probably receiving.

4. Your bond as friends is strengthened

You get to know your friends better and are able to appreciate all their quirks in a way you never had before. Your bond as friends grows and strengthens with the many new memories you create together. You also learn to depend on each other and trust each other more than you had before.

5. The memories will last a lifetime

Once the trip is said and done and you all return back to the normal routine of your life, you'll have memories that will connect you and bring a smile to your face whenever you think of them. The constant inside jokes that no one else but your group will understand, or the stories that you all want to share but are too hard to explain because you just had to be there.

Taking trips with friends is always a good idea, never second guess it. The memories, the laughs, and the constant fun you will have is enough reason to just go for it. You may think you'll get tired of each other, but trust me you'll only grow closer together. Besides, anything and everything is always better when you have friends with you to experience it!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
