5 Reasons Why The 1989 Tour Was The Best Tour Ever

It has been a year since the 1989 World Tour came to a close and sine then, no other tour has been able to top it. I was fortunate enough to see the 1989 Tour 4 times in 4 different cities and each time I was left mesmerized. Swift puts on more than a concert, she puts on a theatrical production that leaves every member of the crowd speechless. Here are just 5 reasons why Taylor Swift's 1989 Tour was the best tour of all time:

1. The Lights/Stage

Each audience member was given a light up bracelet at the beginning of the show. The bracelets lit up to the beat of each song and changed colors throughout the night. The colors represented the mood of the song and told a story within itself. Additionally, the stage was a catwalk that stretched out to the middle of the floor. This allowed people in the back to have the best view at parts of the show. Not to mention the stage lifted up and revolved around the stadium, allowing no one to have a "bad" view.

2. The Costume Changes

Swift's music is never boring, so what makes you think her wardrobe would be any different? Through the course of the two-hour show, Swift demonstrated 8 costume changes. She portrayed different songs through different clothing items, making sure that each song had its own unique aspect to it.

3. The Speeches

Swift is not one for playing each song one after the other with no dialogue in between. Instead, she took the time to speak to the audience through uplifting speeches. She inspired the crowd and explained each song before she performed them. She gave anecdotes about the songwriting process which allowed the crowd to feel a deeper connection to the music.

4. The Instruments

Swift plays a multitude of instruments, some of which she demonstrated her skills in during the 1989 Tour. She played the acoustic guitar, the electric guitar, and the piano throughout the show. This shows Swift's wide range of talents and despite her desire to put on a show with upbeat pop songs she has not abandoned her country roots and still plays stripped down performances.

5. The Special Guests

Swift is obsessed with the element of surprise At each night of the 1989 Tour she invited her friends to come on stage and sing their songs with her. From Selena Gomez to Fetty Wap to Miranda Lambert, Swift invited people from all different genres of music in order to make each show unique. Each night of the tour it was a surprise who would come out and what songs they would sing. This ensured that each concert had its own twist and special element.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
