5 Reasons Why Thanksgiving Is The Best Holiday

Thanksgiving is often an overlooked holiday. Sandwiched between Halloween and Christmas, Thanksgiving does not usually get its due credit.

In honor of Thanksgiving, and all it has to offer as its own special holiday, here are 5 reasons why Thanksgiving is the best holiday!

1. You get a break from school.

The fall semester is a long one, and Thanksgiving offers almost a solid week of days off to go home and relax-a time to sleep in, catch up on your favorite TV shows, and not to think about any homework (if your teachers are nice enough not to assign any).

2. Family and Friends
Thanksgiving is a great time to catch up with family, especially out-of-towners. And all your friends from the neighborhood are on thanksgiving break, too, so if you do not get to see them during the school semester, Thanksgiving break is the perfect time to catch up!

3. Food!

Especially if you have been away at school for a while, the home-cooked food that makes Thanksgiving famous is the perfect thing to look forward to.

4. No obligations of gifts

Thanksgiving is not like Christmas- you are not pressured to buy anyone gifts. Maybe you bring a pie to dinner, but that is so much easier than Christmas.

5. The semester is almost over
After Thanksgiving, everyone dreads finals-but keep in mind that the stress of the semester is almost over!

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?
