In all honesty, I did not picture myself being in a sorority, and I almost didn't rush. Thankfully, I decided to try it, and it was the best thing I could've done. I am so thankful for my sorority, and here is why.
1. Countless sisters
Not only am I surrounded by over 100 friends, but they are also my sisters. It is hard for people who aren't in a sorority to understand the true meaning of the word "sister." It is more than a friend. I know I can count on these girls no matter what, and I could go to any of them for help or advice. There is a sense of belonging and unity when I am with them, which I have never really had before, and it is truly wonderful.
2. The social aspect (of course)
Having over 100 girls, there is always someone I can hang out with. Whether it is going out on the weekend, or just meeting for lunch or coffee, I know my options are limitless. I always have multiple girls who I can go to meet up with for study dates, cuddle sessions, and movie nights.
3. A home away from home
Being away from home, you miss the comforts of a house. Having a sorority house to go to is like having a second home. Not only is it like a home, but you feel a sense of comfort and support. It is a fun place to gather and do crafts or meet with other girls. Plus, it's a nice place to get away from the stuffy dorms.
4. My Big
Having a Big is like having someone who you can always count on and go to if you're in need of some older advice. Not to mention the endless gifts and canvases you get from them are pretty amazing! My big is like an older sister I was never able to have, considering I am an only child. I was so happy when I found out who my Big was, and anyone who has gone through the process can agree with me on how exciting it is.
5. Finding some of my best friends
My sorority has introduced me to so many wonderful girls, and all of them will always have a special place in my heart. However, I have made some true best friends that have blessed my life with their kindness, and support for me. I am so thankful I met them, and I will have them for these next four year of my life, and hopefully more.
