A long time ago, in a bookstore that is now closed (it was Borders), I saw a poster for "Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith." I turned to my dad and asked what "Star Wars" was about. A long time fan, this was the moment he had been waiting for as a parent. Instead of simply telling me, we went home and he made me watch all the movies that weekend. Immediately, my favorite character was Darth Vader, so you can imagine how excited I am that he will be back in "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" this week. "Rogue One" looks like a pretty solid movie, but it has a lot of hype to live up to, and Darth Vader will most likely only have one, maybe two scenes; meaning other characters will have to rise up and meet the high expectations people have for the film. So, here are five things besides Darth Vader I think will make "Rogue One" great.
I'm totally kidding. All of the following reasons are Darth Vader.
1. How menacing he is when he turns.
That's the villain I know and love.
2. His backside.
More memorable than any hero to be honest.
3. The fact his presence is why most people are going to see the movie.
Darth Vader will likely have less screen time than Jared Leto had in "Suicide Squad," but two minutes of Darth Vader is better than zero minutes.
4. How he stands out even when Orson Krennic is the main focus of the shot.
Talk about a scene stealer.
5. That evil strut.
Guess who's back, back again.
Okay, so maybe I'm a little obsessed, but let's be real. Even if the movie totally sucks, long time fans will be able to enjoy seeing their favorite villain on the big screen. There is a reason Darth Vader is so iconic after all these years, and because "Rogue One" takes place before "A New Hope," fans will be able to see Darth Vader in his prime.
