5 Reasons Why Polaroid Pictures Are Appreciable

1948.

In 1948, the first instant film device was invented. Instant cameras were designed to accommodate to all types of people - stationed, on the go, etc., Edwin Land, the inventor himself, pursued a lifestyle dedicated to studying light polarization. As Land spent years researching and producing synthetic polarizers, his invention of the instant camera was designed accidentally when his 3-year-old daughter was wondering why she could not see the picture her father has previously taken of her. Although the history of cameras is long before Edwin, the Polaroid camera is slowly making a comeback this year.

Polaroid Cameras - the fist-sized, portable, convenient device that allows trendy, Tumblr, hipster teens to snap ideal moments and receive a handheld picture of that ideality within seconds. The captured buttons come in all shapes and sizes, and are often seen to have a wide variety of uses. Room decor, graduation party favors, or simply a memory shoved into a notebook - Polaroids are appreciable for the 5 given reasons.

1. Convenient

Although most moment capturing devices are convenient these days, and can travel with us easily, Polaroids are convenient in a special type of way. Yeah, you can take the same picture on your iPhone 7 as you can with your Polaroid, and sure, you can take 10 selfies in a row without worrying about the limited film, but without a Polaroid, you’ll have to actually find the energy to venture to a location that prints pictures. On top of the adventure, you’ll probably, definitely, have to wait for your physical copy, along with paying for them. Using a Polaroid, you take a picture of the beautiful scenery and immediately receive of physical copy of the pretty flowers. No waiting, no cost - just a click of a button and you have a beautiful Polaroid Picture.

2. Simple

As many say - simplicity is the key to brilliance. Polaroid cameras prove it themselves. The commentary is almost as simple as the application - there is absolutely nothing easier than clicking a button and watching a picture print.

3. Cute

As I stated before, the pictures printed come in all shapes and sizes. Options on options are given when choosing the perfect fit for your perfect picture. As there are mini Polaroids, along with regular sized Polaroids, each sizes comes with the options of many different films of a wide variety of colors and designs. Pink holographic film, rainbow flower film, or clear sparkly film - all options within making Polaroids cuter than they already are. Not to mention the cute options we have within these cameras, the pictures themselves are simply adorable. The vintage style of semi-grained, shadowed pictures, give an artsy, hipster, vintage vibe to each photo shot - making them cuter than any standard iPhone camera roll shot.

4. Creative

The only con to the Polaroid camera, is that it often comes with limited film. If every 10 pictures you must order a new set of film, why wouldn’t you just stick to the new fashioned, infinite amount of cell phone snapshots? Well, this “con” seems more like a pro, to me. The lack of copious amounts of film allows us to pick our moments very carefully. Instead of taking 10 Polaroid picture selfies, the limited amount of film guides us to choose what we would like to remember most - a beautiful sunset with your bestfriend. On top of how you decorate your picture, and what you take this picture of, there are also a million ways to go about how to use this picture. Whether you dangle one hundred of them from strings in your new apartment, make it a party favor to take a Polaroid with each guest at your wedding, or simply throw one in a card to your boyfriend on his 19th birthday - let creativity come into play. This feature may be one of the appreciable things about this wonderful accessory.

5. Special Endearment

As I stated in the above paragraph, each Polaroid camera comes with film in packs of 10, meaning that there are only 10 given photos before you must retrieve yet another packet of film. This means that whatever you decide to capture is special. The thought of that is absolutely endearing. A moment that stands out beyond the others, that nevertheless deserves to be captured, is absolutely endearing. Heartwarming, endearing, special - whatever you want to call in, Polaroids capture something incredible.

Polaroid cameras are simply amazing.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
