6 Reasons Why I Love Pinterest

Though it's often forgotten when it comes to praise for social media, Pinterest is actually my favorite when it comes to useful online tools. After Twitter and Facebook, it's the third most popular social media app, dominated by women, and going on it's sixth year of progress. Here are six reasons why Pinterest is a website you should totally check out.

1) It's Free

Pinterest is totally free to use, so there's really no excuse not to download it today! You can even get the mobile app for iPhone or Android, which works just as well and smoothly as the desktop site in my opinion.

2) There's something for everyone

Whatever you're looking for, there's something for you. If you need inspiration for your wedding, everyone's tastes are represented. It's especially useful for aspiring teachers or babysitters, because there are never a lack of craft ideas for kids that are both fun and educational!

3) It's very organized

Pinterst uses things called "boards" to which you can title, theme, and save a collection of links. Most people title these boards after their themes, and it makes it very easy to find exactly what you're looking for when you're going back to find it later. Personally, I used to just create a favorite list of all the pages I liked way back in the days of Internet Explorer's dominance and I'd always forget about them. Pinterest has totally solved that problem!

4) You can make your boards a secret

Pinterest offers the option to create a "secret" or hidden board that no one besides you can see. Very little on social media is anonymous and private these days, so I love this feature. I even used it to plan my mother's surprise birthday party last year!

5) You can follow who you want

Nobody will be offended if you don't follow them on Pinterst because it doesn't say "Hey I don't care about your kids/family." It just says "you aren't interested in the same type of crafts as I am." That way, you can only see things you actually want to see. Many prolific bloggers and artists have come to importance on Pinterest as well, so you can follow their work too. It's a win-win!

6) It's easy to find the source of your pins

Sometimes when you're surfing the web, it's impossible to find the original source of an image or idea. With Pinterest, you won't have that issue, since each pin leads directly to where the user found it. Since there are many original content creators promoting their work on the site as well, you might even discover a new favorite artist directly!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
