1. There's always somebody out there who cares about your life.
In our regular everyday lives, I think we all feel at some point that not everyone gives a crap about what we’ve been doing, what we’re going to do, and how we’re going to do it. When you’re a YouTuber there’s always someone knew thats watching that was interested in what you had to say. Whether it’s a rant, a vlog, a music video, a haul, someone somewhere is waiting for your next video to see what you’ve been up to.
2. You make friends you didn’t know exist.
I first started YouTube three years ago but have since deleted my first channel. Although my first vlogs and music videos are down the drain, that time in my life opened doors to new friendships and opportunities. I became apart of two collab channels, made three great friends, two of which I still keep in touch with, and was inspired by different YouTubers in all different states & countries.
3. There’s an endless list of things to make videos about.
If you wake up one morning and decide you want to make a video, there’s an endless list of possibilities to talk about. You could go outside to your back yard and film a music video in under an hour. You could sit at your desk and talk about how amazing your first year of college was. You could vlog your entire day and combine it all together. There’s no stopping imagination once it’s taken off.
4. It’s an instant conversation starter.
I learned my freshman year of college with the numerous ice breakers that being a YouTuber is a great conversations starter. When people ask for something interesting about yourself, saying you make YouTube videos is enough to make everyone want your username. I actually joined the YouTube Club at my college and at our very first meeting we watched one of my YouTube videos. It was interesting to say the least.
5. I can watch everything again in the future.
There’s nothing better than knowing all of my memories will be in the same place as I get older. I’ll always be able to look back on my Freshman Move In Day and my first few college vlogs. I know in ten years I’ll still laugh when I watch videos of me and my friends being silly. That’s the best part. We can’t remember everything we do, but when we film it, we’ll always be reminded that we had a great day with great people.
