5 Reasons Why Going Home For Break Is The Best

Having a long break in the middle of the school year is both a blessing and a curse. You get to see your family and hometown friends, but you miss your new friends that have become your life. After being away from home for so long, you realize that college makes you miss home, and home makes you miss college. While some people hate going home, here are 5 more reasons to add to the fact that going home for break is actually the best.

Your Own Bed

Nothing is more comforting than being able to sleep in your own bed. Screw those crappy campus housing beds.

Quality Family Time

Family time is the best time. Being around family takes away the stress that you had literally three days ago from those nasty things that we call finals.

Home-cooked Meals

Growing up we really took those home-cooked meals for granted. After months of dining center food/attempting to cook on your own, you can't wait for some of your mom's signature dishes (and not so signature).

Getting to see your pets

Getting to see your pets via FaceTime, Snapchat and Facebook just aren't cutting it. Now time to cuddle all the time with your favorite balls of fur.

Getting To See Hometown Friends

Being home and being able to see friends who you haven't seen in months is one of the best things ever. Being able to reconnect when you've been a couple hours and hundred miles away is a great feeling.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
