With the second semester of senior year in full swing and the bittersweet emotions setting in at rapid speed, I find it important to look at the brighter side of situations. In just a few months, we'll be headed to schools all over the country - most of us in some of our favorite places. While I certainly do not know yet where I'm going officially, these are just a few reasons why I am beyond excited for the upcoming adventure.

1. A fresh start.

This is probably the best thing about college. A brand new environment with brand new people who know nothing about you. Nothing you did in high school matters anymore - you're still the same person but with an opportunity to remold yourself into something even better. The possibilities are endless.

2. Studying what you love.

For most people, high school - and senior year in particular - is a drag because you're forced to study certain academic areas that you have absolutely no interest in. As a history buff myself, studying math and science feels like a chore at this point, and I am beyond excited to head off to college and focus on what actually interests me (even though gen. ed classes are still in the way).

3. Brand new experiences.

Whether it be internships, studying abroad, or clubs and activities on campus, having the opportunity to experience things you couldn't have even imagined while in high school is definitely something to look forward to over the next four years.

4. The typical college lifestyle.

College debt and the Freshmen 15??? Sign me up now!!

No, but seriously, the tailgates and dorm life are things I'm keeping my sights set on regardless of where I end up. I'm already anticipating criticizing the cafeteria food, pulling dreaded all-nighters while studying, and staying in bed watching Netflix and napping at any chance I get.

5. The beginning of everything you've wanted.

While there's still time before bills are going to need payment, the eight hour work day becomes a daily lifestyle, and actual adult-ing throws itself upon us, this is the start. And while to some this is vomit-inducing, it's also really exciting. College is where you get to prepare yourself for the rest of your life - the life you've dreamt about for years. Now, I know life will throw me for loops time and time again, and that what I have planned out now could change even tomorrow let alone in four years time, I'm excited to begin shaping my future into everything I've wanted it to be.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
