It's coming down to the last couple weeks before we go home! Here are my top five reasons as to why I want to stay here, maybe you can relate!
1. I Love My Roommate
My roommate has been my rock, and one of my biggest supporters that I have had over the past few months. She has taken the duties of my parents, as well as my best friend. When my laundry pile is a little high or if my room is a little messy, I can always count on my roommate to tell me to get it done.
When I procrastinate on my homework, or am going on to my fifth hour of Netflix, my roommate is there to tell me to turn it off. My roommate is my food buddy. I always have someone to eat with and don't have to worry about being alone. She has taken the position of best friend. I confide in her like a sister.
2. My Neighbor(s)
My neighbors. I can't even begin to tell anyone the fun memories we have made. Living next door to some fun, energetic, and outgoing girls have taught me to not be afraid to be myself. I can always count on them to be there for me when I need someone to talk to, or a good laugh.
My neighbors have always been a great distraction from homework and stress. I have walked in on so many moments, from one girl eating a bag of cereal in a day, to the other hiding under her blankets, watching Netflix.
The neighbor I share a wall with has probably become one of my best friends. We have both helped each other conquer fears and doubts and I have had the blessing to watch her grow into the awesome person she is today.
3. The Dining Center(s)
Yeah, yeah I know. Sometimes we complain about the food or something not always tasting right. But when you think about it, the dining center is always fully stocked with everything from breakfast cereals to a full salad and sandwich bar. Let's not forget about the grill either.
When it's 9:30 at night, and I'm feeling a little hungry, I can always count on the West Dining Center to satisfy my needs, even when I need just a cup of milk to make my muffin in a cup!
4. Adulting
It has become that time in all of our lives to finally grow up. It's one thing to be 18 in high school, but it's another to be 18 or 19 in college. Once we are no longer living under the same roof as our parents, we have to learn quickly how to budget and prioritize and maybe cook a meal or two on our own.
Sorry, but Ramen doesn't count!
5. The Freedom
Last, but certainly not least is the freedom of being on our own. We have transitioned to being independent and caring for ourselves without too much trouble. I can now proudly admit I know how to plan ahead when shopping for groceries (okay, snacks, but its basically the same, right?).
I use my time wisely and productively, especially when watching Netflix. I have learned to budget my money when it comes down to whether I want the dress from Francesca's or those new shoes at Journey's.
I don't have to ask my parents if "it's okay" to hang out late with friends on a school night. You just go ahead and do it. I don't need permission to go to the store at midnight to buy ice cream because I have cravings. I've learned to rely on myself if I need to get things done.
