Donald Glover- the Atlanta native who has conquered the world of sitcom television is also an actor(in movies too), comedian, writer and rapper(his stage name is Childish Gambino if you don’t know). Every move he makes leaves his fans wanting more, because he’s just that good. Here are 5 reasons why I love Donald Glover:
1. Music
After hearing the Community star was going to try his hand at music, many were skeptical. We knew Donald Glover as a successful comedian and actor, but rapper? Maybe not so much. However, he proved many(like myself) wrong. After I heard him rap for the first time on some show on MTV (I know, right?) I fell in love with his flow and I’ve been hooked ever since. From “Campfire” to his smooth cover of Tamia’s “Into You”, Childish Gambino has taken the music world by storm. Hopefully we get more music that resembles the success of 2013’s “Because the Internet” later in the year if(when) Gambino chooses to release more music.
2. Looks
From his hair to his style, everything about Donald Glover screams, CARE FREE BLACK BOY! Living in the media-social-image-conscious world that we live in, it’s nice to see someone who cares more about comfort of his clothes than the designer on the tag. However, the man does know how to rock a tux (circa 2015 Grammy Awards). You’re welcome.
3. Stand-up
His stand up specials are HILARIOUS! I’ve seen every Comedy Central special, and then I watched "Weirdo" on Netflix. If you haven’t seen any of his specials, go to a computer right now and be prepared to laugh harder than you have ever laughed in your life.
4. TV
From writing on “30 Rock” to starring in “Community” as Troy, we’ve learned that when it comes to tv, Donald Glover can do anything and everything. More of his awesomeness will be in effect on September 9, when his new show, “Atlanta” will premiere on FX. Not only does he star in it, but Glover will also be one of the executive producers and he writes most of the 10 episodes of the first season.
5. Vulnerable
In this media crazy world we live in, it's nice to have a celebrity who let's us into their world. I'm not talking about the reality tv route, like the Kardashian/Jenner's, or the "I'm-going-to-cry-because-I-think-about-my-ex while-listening-to-your-music" singers, like Drake. But instead, we've learned about his first heartbreak, how he deals with insecurities and wondering if the next move he makes is going to be a good one.
So, thank you Donald Glover/Childish Gambino, you've really made this world a better place.
