5 Reasons Why Dogs Are Humans' Best Friends

I have always been more of a dog person opposed to cats. I love dogs from how cuddly they are to how active they love to be. Sometimes I truly do wonder what humans did so right to deserve dogs. If you don't have a dog or never had a dog you're probably not aware of all the greatness that is a dog or a puppy, but don't worry, because you'll probably be convinced to get one after you read these 5 reasons dogs are humans best friends.

1. They're always there to comfort you

Dogs are honestly one of the best things to cuddle with when you're feeling down about something. It's even cuter when they try to give you dog kisses because they know you're feeling sad. The best thing is you don't even have to tell dogs you're feeling sad because they can basically sense it. Regardless if the dog is huge or just a small little puppy they are perfect for laying with.

2. They are loyal

Loyal friends are hard to find, but not when it comes to dogs. They tend to be very loyal animals. They protect their owners and always stand by their side. Even when you're busy and aren't home to play with them all day they'llalways be waiting for you when you get home.

3. Dogs aren't judgmental

It's pretty obvious that dogs love you no matter what. You could be a hot mess, but to your dog, you're probably as perfect as it gets. They also don't judge you when you stay in your bed past noon to sleepbecause honestly they'll be curled up right next to you.

4. They're great company

Don't have anyone to work out with? A dog is a perfect partner to go on a hike or run with.Usually, it's bigger dogs that like to do all the running, but regardless, most dogs and puppies are down to do just about anything with their owners from binge-watching Netflix to swimming, maybe even some yoga.

5. They always put a smile on your face

Regardless if they tear up your shoes or do something they're not supposed to, dogs are hard not to love. One minute you'll be scolding your dog and the next you'll be cuddling with them. Dogs are incredible creatures and they truly are humans' best friends.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
