5 Reasons Why I Deserve A Kitty for Christmas

Probably the greatest pet ever is a cat. No, they're definitely the best pet. What's not to love about them? They've got a tiny pink nose, whiskers on their little lips, big and mesmerizing eyes, little feets covered in fur, a twitchy tail, and a purr that instantly calms you. With Christmas getting closer and closer, people have probably started asking you what you want for a present. Well, I want a kitty. Now, my dad is very against this since we already have a cat and will soon be getting another cat once his fiancee moves in. However, I have decided to make a list of reasons why I myself deserve a kitty for Christmas.

1. I'm graduating early, so a kitty can also be a graduation gift.

I'll be graduating college this semester, not just with one major but two and also with honors. Needless to say, I've worked hard these past three and a half years, so I think I deserve something tiny and fluffy as a reward. Plus, a kitty would be a reminder of my accomplishments.

2. Kitties are much cheaper than other gifts I want.

To adopt a kitty, you pay fifty dollars. That includes having them spayed/neutered and covers their first shots. Plus, all the love that you get from cuddles, kisses, and lots of purrs is priceless. And fifty bucks is much less than the two hundred plus dollar TV I would like...

3. I would have something to prove my adult-ness.

College has allowed me to grow up greatly, especially this semester with having an apartment on campus. I've learned how to keep it clean, to cook, and just maintain a place other than a dorm. I truly believe I am responsible enough to be able to handle a tiny ball of fluff.

4. With me going out into the adult world, I need something cute and cuddly to come home to.

Yes, I do have a kitty now, but she's getting older. Plus, she doesn't really care all that much for cuddling, except for when she wants to. I would hope that with a little kitten of my own it would cuddle with me whenever I sit down or go to sleep. Also, just being able to come home to something little and sweet that is all yours would just instantly make all the worries and stress of the day disappear.

5. A kitty would be the first live creature I would be responsible for.

I think I am a grown-up, but being able to care after something with a heartbeat and a soul will allow me to prove it. I would feed it, play with it, change the litter box, and love it. I would brush it, give it baths, and trim its claws. Plus, I would make sure it stays up to date on shots and take care of it if it gets sick. I know I am capable of caring for something other than myself.

The want I have for a kitty for Christmas is so great, clearly. I really feel like I am able to care for and love a little creature, especially a kitty. That is why I want a kitty for a gift this year, so Dad...please?

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."

I was sitting at my cubicle, now that I am an adult, looking at the rain pouring down on the windowsill, bumming on life, wishing for the rain to just stop for a full day.

There are moments where we count down the hours until work is over and how many more days till the weekend, and this many weeks until something exciting. Or something like that? Well, I was bumming because my next day off from work is not until Memorial Day weekend, which is not until the end of May. And since this is my first year out of college being a “real person,” I am totally missing the winter, spring and summer breaks. I am sure all of us have felt this way even if just for a hot minute…

Great Value Colleges

If you go to or went to Kent State, then more than likely you have done or will do some of these things.

1. You’ve slipped and fallen on the ice at least once.

The winters at Kent are brutal, and while the heated sidewalks and some great snow boots are always a help, there’s no chance you won’t bust it on the ice at least once in your four plus years at school.
