5 Reasons Why Coffee Is The Love Of My Life

Coffee has my heart.

Coffee is pretty much the best thing in my life -- and definitely the sole reason that I've gotten through finals alive. It's there for me when I need it most. Here's why it's the love of my life and totally better than any boy:

1. It's the reason I wake up every morning

Every morning when I wake up, my foremost thought is, "God, I hope there's still hot coffee in the pot." The common phrase, "Don't talk to me until I've had my coffee" is ridiculously accurate every morning. When I don't want to go to class or to work in the morning, coffee works better to get me out of bed than my alarm clock ever will.

2. It's the only thing keeping me going throughout the day

When I've had a rough day -- or know I'm about to have one -- coffee is always there to push me forward. When I have a test to take during my next class, coffee gives me the energy to walk into the classroom. When I have a long essay to write, coffee helps me stay awake and push me through those last few paragraphs. When I have long shift ahead of me, coffee helps me to put on my wide, fake customer service smile. It's like gasoline for a car, without coffee constantly in my system, I wouldn't be going anywhere.

3. It's always there to give me a much needed pick-me-up, or just put me in a good mood

On a good day, I've lost track of the number of coffees I've had by noon. When I'm feeling down, coffee immediately puts me in a good mood. While some people sit around and drink tea while they meditate and do some yoga to relax and get into a good mood, I turn to coffee (don't get me wrong, I like tea at times too). Coffee goes perfectly with a good book and a soft blanket on a rainy day and no matter the circumstance, a cup of coffee in my hand always makes me feel a little bit better.

4. It always helps me achieve my goals

Whether my goals for the day be to paint an entire house or just to get out of bed, coffee helps me to get there. I'm completely useless before I've had a cup of joe every morning, but once I do, I can do just about anything. Personally, my friends bribe me with coffee whenever they can, asking me to help clean their rooms or help them study if only they give me a mug filled with java. And it works every time.

5. It makes me light up just at the sight (or smell) of it

When I wake up in the morning and see the coffee pot filled with fresh java, my eyes become hearts. A steaming cup of coffee on the kitchen table makes my heart skip a beat. The smell alone brings a smile to my face. A cup of coffee in the morning is better than being a little kid on Christmas (although coffee on Christmas morning is pretty hard to top).

All in all, coffee is the love of my life. And it won't make me cry the same way that boys do. Coffee is there for me when I need it and love me back. Plus, it only breaks my heart when I run out of money for a refill.

College is a crazy, beautiful, amazing whirlwind. It is highly popularized in television and movies, but not necessarily in the most accurate way. Yes, there's frats, dingy dorms, raging house parties—but there's also a lot that people fail to mention.

1. If you thought that you knew how to study, you're wrong.

All of your classes aren't taught every day, so professors aren't on your case constantly about reading and memorizing material. Once you get back that "questionable" first exam grade, you'll kick it into high gear and figure out what works for you

Girl With Bleached Hair
Tumblr

I've been a bleach blonde for over a year now, and let me tell you, it is a lifestyle. More hair appointments, longer showers, and special shampoo. But it is totally worth it!

1. Mentally preparing yourself to convince your hair dresser that white is the way to go.

2. Or the anxiety of what could go wrong by bleaching your hair at home.

3. You could either become a ginger

4. Or a pixie

5. The face you make in the mirror when you take off your towel to unveil the perfect white strands.

6. Taking a million selfies the day you bleached it, because you know your roots will be back in literally 2 days.

7. Having to get bangs or a big chop because your hair is so damaged.

8. Having orange highlights in between touch-ups.

9. Going out for a drink afterwards to debut your updated look.

Despite the struggles, you love your platinum blonde hair! You make sure Instagram knows it, too. You don't need a filter, because the color is flawless by itself!

Finals: just thinking about them gives you anxiety. Only two weeks separate you from summer, but they're the longest of the semester. There's a familiarity to this season, now that you have had so many testing cycles under your belt. But that doesn't quell the ever present stress to pass your finals and your classes. I've been at this college thing for almost three and a half years, and while I thought that high school was truly the lowest point of my existence, I'm beginning to realize that it was a walk in the park. Like, I miss the days when the biggest white lie I told my parents was my made up excuse about being late for fourth period. These days, the white lies are a tad more complex, and as ashamed as I am to admit it, I've definitely told a few of these.
