It's crazy to know that a few hours outside of your city there is a totally different world. A world with no cellphone-signal, beautiful trees, and the sound of birds chirping. Last week I had a great opportunity to be apart of this world not to far from me. For about 48 hours, I was away from work and family, and entered this beautiful place about one hour from my city. It was a time of relaxation and quality time with my two best friends. After this trip, I was stress-free and ready to go back to reality. I encourage you, before the summer ends, to get out there. Go and see whats outside of your city, even if it's not camping. Have fun and enjoy your surroundings!

1. Lodge-in.

My two best friends and I rented a cabin in Mohican Outdoor Center, a lodge just on the Appalachian Trial. Two unforgettable nights with two of the best people in my life. Forever we will remember this wonderful camping trip. If sleeping in a tent is not for you, renting a cabin is just as fun and a lot easier! Our cabin came with a full-furnished kitchen, making it easier to cook our meals.

2. Quality time with friends and nature.

Having best friends who are down for anything at any time is the best. With a busy schedule and being away for college can be very hard to connect with high school friends. Camping is a good way of spending quality time with your friends and enjoying nature. Getting off your phones for a while and reconnect with them, can make your heart very happy, just as it did to mine.

3. Hiking.

Grab your sneakers and go for a hike! But don't forget your water! Hiking was one of the best experiences on this camping trip. We went on a very short hike, about two miles up and down, with a wonderful view. Hiking gives you the chance to get your daily exercise in and appreciate the woods at the same time. Be sure to bring comfortable clothing, and a hat to avoid ticks! Don't forget to take water breaks and stay close to the trail!

4. Kayaking.

To begin with, kayaking is way more fun than canoeing! While camping, I've found that canoeing is a lot harder a lot scarier, one wrong move and your in the water! Kayaking is more stable and you are able to go the speed that you want. You are your own boat, you can take yourself where ever you want and no one can stop you!

5. Swimming.

Swimming in a pond was something to get used to. Being very cautious about what touches my feet, it took some time to adjust to swimming in the pond. Swimming with a stunning view was fantastic! Be sure when you go camping that you get a chance to swim and unleash you inner mermaid!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
