5 Reasons Why Black Cats Are The Best Cats

Because superstitions aren't a good enough reason to not adopt a black cat

Black cats may come with superstitions and fear of bad luck, but they are truly the best kind of cats to have! There are so many of them in shelters that need love but are left behind all because of the DNA that was given to them. Black cats, however, are truly the best, and here's why:

1. Bad luck and superstitions are a myth

It's true, everybody. I've had my black cat for a few months now and all she's given me is love, purrs, bottlecaps, and ponytails I thought I've lost forever. I've saved so much money on ponytails now that she brings them back to me all the time! And let's face it, a cute little kitty bringing a ponytail to you is the cutest thing ever. No hexes and bad luck for 10 years here.

2. Their fur blends in with everything

You never have to worry about lint rolling because black fur blends in with everything! No, really. Need to dress up, but need kitty cuddles first? No problem, go ahead and have that snuggly time and look great doing it because that fur will not be seen! No need for lint rollers, people.

3. No costume needed for Halloween

Your kitty will always be prepared for Halloween! All she needs to complete her look is a nice little orange collar (and mine even glows in the dark. She may be ready for Halloween all year around now because AWWW). Just be sure if your cat is an outdoor/indoor or strictly outdoor cat that they are protected near and/or on Halloween; sadly individuals think it's fun to hurt these gentle creatures for their own amusement.

4. They look like smaller versions of big cats, or Toothless from that dragon movie

Black cats look like smaller versions of panthers! Your ferocious little kitty cat may not be as big, but the personality is just as great. Leaping, running wild, and hunting (even if it may be that ponytail or bottle cap). She's a mighty creature and knowing you have a mini panther running around makes you feel just a little bit more like a bada**.

5. You're rescuing an animal

At the end of the day, you're rescuing an animal. This animal has seen so many other cats go home, has been ignored, and ridiculed all because of the black fur it was given. The little black cat I went home with was an extended stay cat because of her black fur and the little part of the tip of her ear that was missing due to frost bite when they found her.

Please remember next time you're going to rescue an animal that black cats are cats too. They may have been given the stereotype of being bad luck, but they are still animals that need rescued. Let me tell you, if you think they don't love you as much as other cats, it's because they don't; they love you even more.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
