5 Reasons Why Babysitting Is The Best Job

Babysitting-- although frustrating at times, can be one of the most rewarding jobs to have. From meeting wonderful families to not paying taxes, there's a wonderful array of things babysitting has to offer and teach you. Here's five reasons babysitting is a great job to have:

1. You make more of an impact in the lives of the children you babysit than people realize.

Babysitting isn't just playing dress up and making mac'n'cheese. It's constantly worrying about another persons well-being. Making sure they eat a well rounded diet as well as getting them off their iPad and going outside to play is just part of the job. You want to get their minds working while having fun at the same time. Now, it can mostly be fun and games but when a kid starts crying over literal spilled milk it's your responsibility to pick them up and calmly explain why that is no reason to cry. It's a parents duty to mold their children but when mommy and daddy go to work, that responsibility gets handed to you.

2. You meet some awesome families.

Not only do you get attached to the children, but the parents are so friendly and appreciative towards you that you can't help but learn to love them. Not to mention you spend so much time in their house that it becomes sort of like your second home. When the end of the summer rolls around and it's time to go back to school, you secretly hope they will adopt you and you can stay forever.

3. No taxes.

Babysitting has financial benefits as well. In most cases, it's all completely off the books and payday comes in the form of cash. You don't pay taxes which means you actually get to keep the money you earned. A lot of parents are willing to pay a generous amount for childcare, mostly because it's necessary. But besides getting to hang out with adorable kids, you make good money doing it.

4. Kids have unconditional love for everyone.

Even on their worst days, kids sweet sides always shine through. They could spend all day throwing temper tantrums simply because they missed their nap and manage to steal your heart all over again when they finally reach sweet sleep while laying on top of you. You could know them for a week but that won't stop them from bringing you play dough "cookies" in the shape of hearts with a hug and an "I love you" for dessert.

5. It's good practice.

Even if you don't see kids in your foreseeable future, it is very possible that one day you will. By the time you decide to take the leap and have kids, you have been changing dirty diapers and putting infants down for naps like it was your job-- oh wait, it was.

Sorority

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.

The dynamics of any friend group are usually determined by the personalities which make it up. Chances are, while personalities may overlap, each person in your friend group holds his or her own place. It is the differences which bring the groups together and keep them functioning. No matter how functionally dysfunctional your friend group may be, if you're anything like me, you feel absolutely blessed to have found such a wonderful group of humans to call "your people."
