5 Reasons Why Aquaman Is My Favorite Superhero

Some people think that I don't actually like Aquaman and whenever I'm asked my favorite superhero and I say him, it's because I want to be different. Well to them I say nay, a normal person would not sit through all the verbal abuse you receive as an Aquaman fan, if it was not real love for the character. And now that the first trailer for the Justice League movie has been released and Aquaman looked like the true but the lame superhero so many people think he is. I think that it is about time that I confess my love for the Atlantean King. Aquaman and I never started on the best of terms, but when I realized how great he is, ever since then the ruler of Atlantis and I have been the best of pals.

1. His power is not a push over (he does the pushing over)

Aquaman does more than talk to fish, in fact he doesn't talk to them at all. He communicates with them telepathically and compels them to do his will. His body is bulletproof, he is super strong, once holding an entire burning building from falling down for several minutes while firemen saved everyone inside. His trident literally was forged of the god Neptune and was chosen to use it. It allows him to command the sea to do whatever he pleases, creating whirlpools and he can even change the weather. For a guy who is often the butt of the joke, it's a wonder why he puts up with Earth.

2. He could conquer all of Earth (he just doesn't want to)

Atlanteans have some of the most advanced technology and they are some of the strongest people in the DC universe. Their military might being able to easily crush anything that we have on land. In the Flashpoint Paradox he basically does just that and is essentially trying to conquer the rest of Earth. Atlanteans are all bulletproof and they are all super strong. Match that with their advanced technology and they could easily take over all of Earth. The reasons why they haven't? They don't really want to. The Atlanteans have no desire for Earth, especially when almost all of its theirs anyway.

3. He gets his hands dirty

Unlike Batman, or Superman who refuse to kill anyone, Aquaman will kill if he sees a reason to. He once fed the villain Charybdis to a river of piranha after he lost his same arm to the piranha (just because he can communicate doesn't mean the always listen) and instead of losing has arm and never fighting crime again. He slaps a harpoon on where his arm should be and he goes on protecting the world. He regularly scraps against the cosmic entity Cthulhu and wins, keeping Earth safe from being Cthulhu's lunchtime snack.

4. He not only is King of Atlantis, he is king of all the oceans (he has divine right to do so)

Remember the trident? Well it gives Aquaman the divine right to be the ruler of the oceans. It chose him to wield it and use its immense power and then combine that with the Earth being seventy percent water, it gives Aquaman quite the kingdom. Aquaman has one of the biggest responsibilities as the protector of Earth's oceans, he not only takes the time to protect the oceans he also goes on land when his land allies are slacking. He protects the Seven Seas as well as the seven continents.

5. His wife is just as strong as him

Most superheroes' significant others do absolutely nothing, I mean look at Lois Lane or Mary Jane Watson. They aren't super-powered at all they just depend on their boyfriend to save them. On the contrary, Aquaman's wife Mera is from another group of sea-dwelling humanoids who are just as strong as Atlanteans. She can also control water. She once drained the water from a man who going to shoot his daughter. She can literally kill any person who needs water to survive. Step aside Superman.

Now that the Justice League movie is coming it out, it can hopefully shine a light on the king and allow a more mainstream audience to find out what all of Aquamans fans have known. That he is easily one of the strongest superheroes and he deserves a spot on all of the top ten lists.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
