1. It Made Us Laugh (obviously)
I’m sure we can all remember a time when we were having a rough day and turned to Vine to help us out. We’d open up the app and watch 6-second clips that made us laugh until we were wheezing uncontrollably with tears running down our faces. It was like nothing from your horrible day mattered because you were dying over a newswoman getting her pants eaten by a goat.
2. It Created Iconic Comedic Moments
“Rebecca it’s not what you think!” “So, no head?” “Happy Birthday Raven!” “Ms. Keisha? Ms. Keisha?” (Cue Owen Wilson voice) “Wow,” “Stop! I could’ve dropped my croissant,” “Chris? Is that a weed?” There’s so many more that we all remember and it’s changed our sense of humor forever, I’m sure I’ll be saying these phrases around my grandkids and tell tales of the great green app.
3. It Raised a Ton of Money for Charity
When specific viners became popular, they decided to use their huge platform for good. Jake Paul and Jerome Jarre are just two examples of guys that both raised $1 million for different charities, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Other stars such as Liza Koshy, Lele Pons, David Dobrik and so many more all helped raise money through their huge following, and it was all because of Vine. Laughter is the best medicine for raking in cash for those in need.
4. It Captured Hilarious Moments
Vine is notorious for users catching mishaps on camera. From people falling over in the street, slipping on ice in the winter, breaking a fish tank, busting a hole in the wall because of slamming into it with a hoverboard, or even catching pets doing crazy stuff. It was a way to make us all laugh at ourselves or someone else for something that we might’ve done when no one was looking. It caught rare moments that probably would’ve never been seen if it wasn’t for Vine.
5. It Gave Everybody an Opportunity to Become Something
Vine gave many people a large platform to express themselves. It took many people from being just kids with an iPhone camera to being award-winning creators. It gave undiscovered talent a way to get their voice heard, and today you can hear their music on the radio and topping the charts, just two examples are Shawn Mendes and Ruth B. who first got their starts singing covers to their followers. Now they both have hit singles and songs on the radio. None of that would’ve been possible without the great app and the people that supported it. I'm sure we all wish that vine would rise from its grave but I guess it fits under the “only the good die young” category for the time being.
