Hopefully I didn't ruin the surprise for anyone, but the results are in! Introducing ABC's next bachelor, ladies and gentlemen: the ever popular, always recurring, Mr. Nick Viall.
Oh yes, you heard correctly. This coming season, Nick finally gets a refreshing taste of what it's like to be on the other side of the rose ceremony, with a couple dozen options to chose from. Being an unapologetic super fan of the Bachelor saga, I felt it to be pretty necessary to dedicate an article to my thoughts on ABC's recent decision. Though one might claim that this upcoming bachelor had his chance (and second, and third- but who's really counting?), I feel like this coming season is pure poetic justice on the relational roller coaster that is Nick Viall's love life.
And so, without further ado, I present a hearty list of reasons explaining how seriously rad it is to have Mr. Viall as a televised bachelor just one more time.
1. He's Brutally Honest
While some may still sneer as Nick's TMI moment following being dumped by his first televised girlfriend, Andi Dorfman, it certainly speaks mountains to the type of personality he is going to be when the power is in his hands. He is going to tell it how it is, and I guarantee that he will make sure that not a single woman feels as though she wasn't told the complete and honest truth. No more sugar coated breakups or empty conversations-- this guy is going to be absolutely real (which, admittedly, whether you are a Viall fan or not, will certainly make for some entertaining TV).
2. He's undoubtedly mature
While many bachelors and bachelorettes make their debut on the televised series within the realm of their early or late twenties, Viall is now 35 years old, having experience of several intimate and long lasting relationships already under his belt (not to mention two almost engagements). He is ready to settle down and is certainly on this show for the right reasons. He knows what he wants and isn't playing any games or utilizing this opportunity as a ploy for fame. He genuinely wants a wife at the end of this and is ready to pursue that type of commitment.
3. He's an Expert at the Process
After three whole seasons of experience under his belt, one could definitely propose that Nick Viall not only knows how to properly handle himself on television, but knows how to approach the sticky situation of dating up to twenty-something girls at once. He has stuck with two women till the end through the process and a pretty emotional season of Paradise. Viall understands the hardship and difficulties that are bound to present themselves in this unique dating experience and will treat them accordingly. After all, no one wants to deal with another season of a bachelor/bachelorette telling several suitors he/she's in love or, god forbid, a bachelor that uses "the language barrier" as an excuse for women dumping him and refusing to propose (the point of the show, by the way) at the series finale (yeah, I'm looking at you, Juan Pablo).
4. He's no stranger to Intimacy
While Nick definitely can come off as the shy guy at a first impression, we can't deny that he isn't afraid to show ( or discuss, for that matter) a little PDA. He presents himself as a loving guy and make's sure his woman knows it. And, after all, this is a televised show about finding love- so who really doesn't want to see a little intimacy and action going on? This season will be a hot and steamy one, no doubt.
5. Come on, he's pretty cute
Okay- I'm really hoping I don't have to defend myself on this one (I mean, have you seen those abs?), but in any case, Nick Viall is the best looking 35 year old man I have ever seen. He provides the perfect amount of eye candy in any given situation. From tuxedos at the rose ceremonies, to dates on the beach, you are seriously lying if you don't enjoy at least the physicality of this man's presence.
So there you have it- my honest opinions on what makes Nick Viall a pretty rad pick for this series' next bachelor. After considering these reasons, I hope you can join me in saying "Well done, ABC," and best of luck to Nick.
