Taking on new challenges in life easily can become a daunting and intimidating venture. It makes sense because when you become comfortable in a routine, or life in general, why would you want to become uncomfortable? All of us aspire to do different things, and we all have things we want to try outside the "norm." But, when presented with the option to go for something we want, far too many times we back away. Even when life gives us opportunities for new ventures, ones we might not have considered, too often do we turn it down.
However, those who accept a new challenge in life and those who try things outside the "norm" experience something special. So, the following are five reasons why you should try something new and push your limits a little in life.
1. Learning
Regardless of success or failure, you will learn a lot. You will learn lessons that you will apply to the rest of your life. Most importantly, you will learn about yourself and discover things about yourself that you never knew before. Regardless of what you learn, it will be a positive experience.
2. Mind And Body
There is no doubt that, when attempting something new, you will strain your brain and/or your muscles. New physical tasks have obvious health benefits; however, pushing your mind to learn something new is also extremely healthy. Constantly learning new things and pushing the boundaries of your mind will ultimately lead to longer healthy brain function.
3. Experience
You will gain more life experience! If life were a game and you were rewarded points based on how many experiences you have had, how many points would you have right now? It's vital to have a vast array of life experiences. Experiences round us out and provide a gateway for us to have open minds.
4. Satisfaction
If you attempt a new task, or challenge yourself to go for something you don't have yet, you will satisfy emotional cravings that exist no matter how deep you've buried them. These cravings include a lust for adventure and change, the constant thirst for things that are new and a powerful longing to take on and accomplish challenges.
5. Accomplishment
Not only will you most likely accomplish and succeed at the new challenge, but you might discover a hidden talent. The old saying, "you never know until you try" is true. At the end of the day, you might surprise yourself by having a talent for something new that you never thought to try before. But, even if you don't succeed, you accomplished one thing that many people cannot say they have ever done: you tried.
