5 Reasons To Start Watching YouTuber Derek Gerard
Huffington Post

YouTube is full of various and abundant personalities. It can be hard to know just who you should check out next with all the different channels out there. I am here to help you on your next step of your YouTube journey by introducing you to a guy that I discovered about a year ago.

And this guy is Derek Gerard!

Currently sitting at over 500,000 subscribers, Derek has become my latest obsession and I am honored to bring this incredible guy into your YouTube life. And why should you watch, you ask? Well, here are just five reasons that you should subscribe to Derek Gerard.

1. He's hilarious!

Any YouTuber that can make me laugh even when I'm by myself is a huge plus in my book. And it should be in yours too. Derek has perfect comedic timing, he's over the top but not in a way that's obnoxious (and this is the key), and he's great at physical comedy. It's hard to describe why someone's funny so I realize I may not be doing a very good job at describing Derek, but I encourage you all to watch just a few videos to see exactly what I'm talking about.

2. His editing style

This point ties into the previous one since the way he edits his videos together just makes his comedic ability even more prominent. There's something about zooming in on facial expressions, cutting off sentences in the middle of babbling, and ironically adding unnecessary over-dramatic effects that just makes a video funnier. And Derek is an expert at it all. And, as I said, an expert on comedic timing.

3. He's cute

I mean, come on! Just look at him! While this isn't the sole reason you should start watching Derek's videos, this could potentially be something that draws you in to his awesome community. With mesmerizing brown eyes and a warm smile, Derek's looks definitely don't hurt his chances at gaining a larger audience.

4. His content

Derek has some unique videos to say the least. From food reviews to toy reviews to his latest video which is a vlog from Toys R Us, everything Derek does isn't the typical. When I said toy and food reviews, you probably imagined some serious content and genuine review. But, instead, we have Derek who does the "Fast Food Olympics" and buys children's toys to burn and freeze. And, no, I'm not joking. Just watch them.

5. He loves to interact

So many YouTubers are seen as unattainable in the eyes of their fans. But Derek has worked hard to break this stereotype and belief. Instead of closing himself off, Derek finds ways to always stay in contact with us. Whether he's streaming live on YouTube, streaming on Twitch, replying and following on Twitter, or doing Instagram livestreams, Derek knows the importance of staying in touch with the people that love and support him. This is one of the main reasons I've stuck around for Derek's career. Because he genuinely cares and it shows.

So, thanks Derek for being such a rad human being. And I encourage all of you to look into this underrated YouTuber. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

One Book Made Me Question Existence In Its Entirety

"The Stranger" by Albert Campus touches upon many heavy elements... but not in the way you expect. Although it touches upon the aspects of death and love, it also deals with a hidden philosophy similar to that of nihilism.

The story follows the short life events of Meursault, a Frenchman whose carelessness for his actions eventually ends him in jail and dependent on a jury of people to judge the ethicality of his decision and the punishment that he deserves. He eventually gets the death penalty and all throughout he is nonchalant and almost apathetic towards his situation. He finally snaps when the prison sends a priest to him to absolve him of his sins and to cajole him in confessing to the lord.
