5 Reasons To Read Shane Dawson's Latest Book

This week I've been invested in Shane Dawson’s newest book “It Gets Worse” and it has been a wonderful experience. I've been watching Shane on Youtube for 11 years now and now holding his second book is so surreal for me. I am proud of him and these are just a few reasons to read this New York Times Best-Seller

1.)it's hilarious

Calling anything Shane does hilarious is an understatement. He's hysterical. He can make any sad moment or embarrassing story funny. In his book it's all stories from his life and a lot of them could be sad, but he always puts a funny spin using real life dialogue. Anyone who doesn't even know Shane and his comedy will find him funny. He's hilarious and I actually laugh out loud with every page.

2.) It's genuine

Shane is a real guy who isn't afraid to say his truths. He has battled body dysmorphia and struggled with coming to terms with his sexuality, both which he has openly discussed in both his books. He isn't afraid to be open with his struggles and his feelings, which he’ll often try to put a comedic spin on. He keeps it positive but keeps it real at the same time.

3.)It's a little heartbreaking

Shane's life growing up was not easy as his family didn't have much money and his father left their family when he was young. One chapter is detailing how his mother was convinced that they were going to win the lottery but was heartbroken when they lost. There's heartbreaking moments but they lead way to such great moments in Shane's life. The tears become happy tears when you realize how far he's come as a person.

4.)It appeals to everyone

If you don't know who Shane Dawson is, you don't need to to find this book hilarious and relatable. He is open and honest, which everyone can admire about someone. He knows the right words of advice to give to everyone that anyone can take. I just recommended the book to someone who has no idea who Shane is because it's just so funny. Comedy is a language everyone can understand especially when spoken by someone who made it their job to make someone else laugh.

5.)Puts life into perspective

Shane's book is called “it gets worse” but while he admits it can get bad at times, things will always get better. He's been through so many bad times but they've always made him stronger as a person. He negative events in his life and makes them into a positive, into comedy. He always proves that you can get up after you've fallen down and make a great life for yourself. It may be bad right now but it'll always get better, that's the one lesson Shane always teaches in books and his videos.

28 Daily Thoughts of College Students

"I want to thank Google, Wikipedia, and whoever else invented copy and paste. Thank you."

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
