Could you really live with your childhood best friend for an entire school year?

5 Reasons To Live With Your Best Friend From Home

A common piece of advice given to me before finding a college roommate was to find someone new; living with my best friend from home wouldn't allow me to reach out to others, and we know too much about each other to live in a 10x10 living space. I proved those commentators wrong, and am peacefully living with one of my closest friends from home for over seven years--here's why:

1. We know how to cheer each other up.

We can tell when the other is upset, and we know exactly what they need. Whether it's a glass of wine, or a funny meme of Jeb Bush, we know how to get each other to crack a smile.

2. Sharing Clothes

We know each other's style and size, and there are almost no limitations in our mixed closets. We randomly find each other's clothes in our closets almost weekly.

3. Funny memories

"Remember when..." Followed by hours of laughter is a great way to unwind after a long day--and even the smallest things can spark memories from years ago that can leave us laughing for days.

4. Trips home are a breeze

"Do you need a ride?" Holiday weekends are easier on the parents when they only need to drive one way to get you to or from school. Carpooling from our down-the-block suburban homes to the same building in the city makes things less stressful for our parents, and more entertaining for us.

5. We'll always love each other

Whether we've seen each other way too much in the past 24 hours or we just need a goodnight cuddle because we miss our moms, living in close quarters with a childhood best friend is one of the most rewarding things I've decided to do in college. I will always have someone there for me when I need it most, and vice versa.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
