Okay, y'all. It's officially the week before Thanksgiving, which really means it's practically Christmas! Personally, I have been ready for Christmas since Halloween, but I chose to hold off on the article for the sake of all you normal people.
Christmas is literally the best time of the year, and I will not accept any arguments saying otherwise. I begin my Christmas countdown the day after Christmas. It's that important to me. We all know presents are great, but there really is so much more to Christmas that makes it so special.
1. The Feeling
I know you all know what I'm referring to. There is literally a certain feeling you get when it's Christmas time and the trees, lights and decorations are everywhere you go. I can't really put it into words, but I swear it exists. They really weren't kidding when they said "it's the most wonderful time of the year."
2. Christmas Music
When I say Christmas music, what I really mean is Mariah Carey's, All I Want for Christmas is You, on repeat. Don't get me wrong, there are some other holiday bops such as *NYNC's Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Arianna Grande's Santa Tell Me, Chris Brown's cover of This Christmas, and Britney Spear's My Only Wish (This Year), that get me into the holiday spirit. But, you can't even deny that Mariah Carey is the queen of Christmas and no other song will ever compare to All I Want for Christmas is You. That song literally has the power to turn my mood from bad to amazing, just by hearing the opening tune.
3. Christmas Movies
Nothing really gets me into the spirit of Christmas like Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas movie countdown. Ever since I was a kid, I always knew that I could turn to channel 49 and see all of my favorite Christmas movies scheduled. Whether it's The Santa Clause, Christmas with the Kranks, or Elf, you know you can't really get into the holiday spirit if you don't watch at least one Christmas movie. You're celebrating Christmas the wrong way if you choose not to partake in the festive movie-watching.
4. Christmas Dinner
I don't know if this is just me, but I get way more excited for Christmas dinner than I do for Thanksgiving dinner. I don't know why, but Thanksgiving dinner simply doesn't have the same effect on me the way Christmas dinner does. I would be totally fine if we had two Christmases instead of a Thanksgiving, just saying. Everyone is more in the holiday spirit, there are presents everywhere ans Christmas music is blasting. Ugh, I'm getting even more excited as I write this.
5. Shopping
Yeah, Christmas shopping can be a traumatic experience for some. But, for me, it's always one of my favorite parts of the holiday season. The mall is always filled with Christmas decorations and music -- it's hard for me to not love it. Not to mention, I just really love shopping for my loved ones. Being able to give my favorite people in the world something they love just makes me feel really good. Let the Black Friday sales begin!
Christmas is just really, really great. That is all.
