5 Reasons To Be Thankful For Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is ultimately a time to gather with your family and friends and reflect on well, anything and everything. There is so much in this world to be thankful for and Thanksgiving is one of those things. Although we should be thankful every single day, Thanksgiving is that one day, a reminder for us to say "thank you."

1. Family Gatherings

As you grow up family gatherings are more scarce so any chance there is to have one, it is something to be thankful for because family is an ultimate bond no matter what.

2. The Meal

Prepping Thanksgiving dinner is no small job, it takes a lot of time and effort. We should all feel so lucky that we get to enjoy this feast with the people we love.

3. The Conversations

Thanksgiving is a time where so many different topics come to the table whether we love them or hate them (politics, college, relationships) we have to take them with grace because someday you won't have these conversations anymore.

4. Friends

During this time of the year, you really start to see how much of an impact your friends have on your everyday lives. You begin to see how much they influence you, good or bad, and how you wouldn't change a thing.

5. The Memories

Some of the best memories are made around the dinner table. Whether you're laughing your heart out, or crying, or sitting in silence these are the days you'll remember in years to come. Be thankful for this time.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
