With the holidays right around the corner, it can be rough out there for us single folks. Although the love in the air feels suffocating, there are many perks to being single during this time. They don't call it the Most Wonderful Time of the Year for nothing.

1) One less person to buy presents for.

Let's face it, as much as we love buying presents, money doesn't grow on trees. Finding the perfect gift for your special someone is stressful, time consuming and expensive. So instead of crying over being alone this holiday season, go buy yourself those fabulous shoes you've been eyeing.

2) More cookies for you!

My favorite thing about Christmas is baking and when I don't have a boyfriend, I don't have to share. 15 cookies eaten, 0 people judging me for it.

3) You can focus on your friends.

Now that you and all of your friends are single, you can celebrate together. Cuddle up with a friend and watch your favorite holiday flick while sipping on hot coco and eating sugar cookies. Nothing beats that.

4) You don't have to meet someones family.

Being in a relationship during any holiday means having to give up time with your own family so you can meet your boyfriend/girlfriends drunk Aunt Carol who pinches your cheeks and insists that you are "the most darling thing they have ever seen". Enough said.

5) You finally get to relax.

A huge perk of the holidays are that you get a break from work or school. Now that you are single, you can really focus on catching up on the sleep you lost during finals week. Go get your nails done, get a massage and relax. You deserve it.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
