Being a Republican is pretty awesome! Here are five reasons why the ain't no party like the Grand Ole Party!
1. We love Capitalism
Capitalism and free markets truly allow individuals to be free and we are all for that! The Washington Examiner found that world poverty is at the lowest rate in history, all of this thanks to Capitalism. This economic system allows people to pull themselves out of poverty. It promotes competition, which in turn makes bigger and better products and services. Capitalism supports equality, it’s good for us socially, and makes most people pretty darn happy. Bottom line Capitalism rocks, free markets for free people, and #SocialismSucks.
2. We believe in the capabilities of an individual
"House of Cards’" Frank Underwood puts it best as, “We’ve been crippled by Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, by welfare, by entitlements. And that is the root of the problem: entitlements. Let me be clear. You are entitled to nothing. You are entitled to nothing. America was built on the spirit of industry. You build your future. It isn’t handed to you. And the problem with Washington is that we haven’t given you the tools to build it. The only way for us to serve you is to give you the means to serve yourselves.” It’s a great quote because it’s true. We find that individuals hold the power to make things better for themselves. We believe that people should not be reliant on the government to provide for them. Hard work makes a difference, humans are capable of great things. You are entitled to nothing.
3. Patriotism
I am a firm believer that Republicans are some of the most patriotic people in America. We highly appreciate our veterans and police, love our red, white, and blue, and always respect the flag. Now, we all know our government does some things that aren’t praise worthy, but when we have the privilege of waking up in what is truly the best country in the world those disagreeances don’t weigh on us as much. And despite what anyone says, how lucky are we that we have the constitution to protect our rights. Seriously, did you see the U.S. medal count at the Rio Olympics! 121 medals!*Eagles screeches in the distance*
4. We’re not just a party of old white men
Perhaps one of the biggest stereotypes is that the Republican party is made up of old, white men. I’m here to debunk that for you; hi, I’m a young, female, Republican and I’m proud of it! Let’s look at this election, there were two Hispanics, a women, the first Indian, and an African American running for the party's nomination. Looking to congress, there are 19 members of Congress that are 40 years-old or younger. There is also an extreme amount of young people that are taking action. Organizations like Future Female Leaders that supports and encourages women and Turning Point USA that supports small government, free markets, and capitalism through high school and college chapters. Young people care and we’re a force that’s ready to take action!
5. Supports the American Dream
The American dream is important to us. Democracy, rights, liberty, opportunity, and equality; that is what America is all about. These qualities of America are what draws people from other countries to the United States. They come here for freedom; for economic prosperity. In America we believe in industry and small businesses and since we have the freedom to do so the American dream can live on. America is a great place and the American Dream should be important to everyone!
