5 Reasons The Night Is So Beautiful

The world seems like a foreign place during the night hours.

If you’ve ever been outside at nighttime, you know that everything seems totally different than in the day. Creativity seems to flow easier, thoughts seem clearer and life seems simpler.

Here are five reasons nighttime is so amazing:

1. Time stands still

It’s like after a crazy storm, where everything was flying around in the wind, then suddenly it all drops. There are signs of a crazy day, but the silence and expanse of darkness take over, leaving an eerie tranquility that feels like it will never end.

2. Creativity is flowing

For night owls, the night is our time to shine. We’re at our most alert, most energized and our minds aren’t being over-stimulated - which gives it a chance to do some of its own thinking.

3. Everything looks different

What looked one way in the light looks completely different at night. You notice things you didn’t before. The moon casts a light glow on everything and the streetlights and other outside lights have a different aura to them as well which makes everything around you seem foreign and exciting.

4. The lights

Speaking of the lights, they are another important part of the nighttime. They are captivating because of the contrast with the darkness surrounding them. During the day, lights are usually overwhelmed by the sun. At night, they have nothing to compete with. It is in the dark that the light can really shine.

5. Opened eyes and cleared minds

The feeling of emptiness and aloneness that night often brings can be thought-provoking. Minds work better, and memory becomes stronger. Flashbacks always seem to come at night with more clarity, which allows you to think through situations better. Most solutions are thought up at night; the trick is remembering them the next day!

Sometimes the night can be intimidating, but that does not mean it is lacking in beauty. Whether you're out in the country, in the suburbs or surrounded by the bright lights in the city, the night is a beautiful and unique time that needs to be taken advantage of. If you've never spent a night outside, then I strongly recommend you do.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
