Lets be honest, I'm sure there are a million more reasons than just 5 to smile today. Just in case you forgot, here is a friendly reminder to never take a day, or any of the surprises it throws at you for granted.

1. You got up in the morning.

As ridiculous as it is to say, the gift of getting up today should be enough to make you grin at least a little. It may not seem like it when the alarm is blaring in your ear, but the opportunity to live another day, whether it be for you or someone else, cannot and should not be ignored.

2. Someone out there is thinking of you or has thought about you at least once today.

It's a beautiful thing to realize or even to think about that someone out there, whether you know them or not, has been thinking about you in the hopes of your well-being. I don't know about you, but even the prospect of that mysterious support is enough for me to smile at least a little.

3. Your presence is making an impact on someone else's life.

Whether or not you realize it, the actions you make have an impact in the life of someone else. All that you do, good or bad, doesn't go unnoticed or unappreciated. Don't forget that.

4. You mean more to this world than you realize.

You matter. The end.

5. You are loved.

Smile, each day brings on a challenge, but each day also brings on an opportunity to love. Allow yourself to be loved and allow yourself to love, it's what drives this world and it's what is going to change it.

Friendship. It's defined as the state of being attached to another person by feelings of affection or personal regard, but what really is friendship? Is it that occasional hallway talk with that one person who always manages to cheer you up? Is it that relationship you have with someone where they can be gone for a long period of time, but when they come back, it's like they never left? Is it spending every waking hour with someone, and knowing every detail about their life? Is it the relationship that's filled with fighting, but filled with even more resolution? I've learned that it's all of these things, and every friendship is different. It's a beautifully dysfunctional mess that should always be cherished and never be taken for granted.
