It's your first day at your new job. Normally, you'd be anxious and prepared to give your best first impression to not only your boss but your coworkers too. This time is different, though. This time, you'll be working with your best friend, so your boss already knows everything about you, down to how you beer-funneled a six-pack last weekend, and your new coworkers already have their preconceived opinions of you. What could go wrong?
1. The Pressure of Letting Your Best Friend Down
As if starting a new job isn't enough, now you're expected to already know everything. As days go by, it feels as though you're getting further and further behind because you aren't being trained as seriously. You're barely sliding by and figuring everything out on your own proves to be exhausting, but you have to. The guilt of letting your best friend down is something you can't live with.
2. Picking Favorites
This is hard to deal with. When you feel like some of your coworkers like you more than your best friend or vice versa things can get a little tense and awkward. However, if you work together it's bound to happen because not everyone will like you and your best friend equally.
3. Scheduling Conflicts
I can't stress this enough, if you plan on actually seeing your best friend, don't work with them! Your schedules will not align 99% of the time leaving you alone at home with your cat. Just don't do it.
4. Promotions
While all you want for your best friend is to be happy and successful, you can't help but be a little envious when they get promoted before you. Not only does this make you feel incompetent but the last thing you want to do is take orders from your best friend. It can also cause some weird tension outside of work if feelings carry over into your personal life.
5. Drama
When drama ensues between you and your best friend all you want is some alone time, but now you have to go to work and see their beautiful face there too. And don't even get me started on workplace drama. Just avoid the unnecessary arguments and find a different job.
