By now, we've all heard about the new Pokemon game that is taking the world by storm. While we are currently only in the Beta testing segment of this game's release, it seems that everyone in the world is playing it. But with popularity comes criticism, and the most common one I hear is simply, "It's not safe." Well, my dear friends, you are wrong.
First, let me explain what Pokemon Go is. Pokemon Go is an app available on Google and Apple devices. This game follows standard Pokemon style with the agenda to "catch 'em all," but with a new twist. The creators of Pokemon Go have made a game that requires people to get up, leave their homes, and search the real world for virtual creatures. Sounds pretty cool, right? Well, it is, and here's why.
1. You leave your house.
These days, too many games exist to keep you seated on your couch, enraptured by the virtual world. Pokemon Go, on the other hand, invites its users to ventures into the real world, and it takes them to new and interesting places through its Pokestop system. Each Pokestop is located at a local landmark, which allows Pokemon Go players to experience their local community to the fullest.
2. Young people are getting more exercise.
For years, major political figures have stood on platforms promising to end childhood obesity and encourage children to be more healthy. Well, since Pokemon Go came out, people of all ages have been on their feet more, walking great distances to catch rare Pokemon or hatch an egg. With physical activity increasing, it won't be long until obesity decreases.
3. Pokemon Go is fun for all ages.
This game can easily become a family game. Whether you grew up in the midst of the Pokemon generation, or you're trying it for the first time, Pokemon Go creates a fun challenge of collecting every Pokemon available. What better way to challenge your friends?
4. You learn about your environment.
My local area's Pokestops are all historical places that each have a story. Imagine people all over the world, learning the history of their local areas, and having a great time doing so. Pokestops lure people out of their homes and into their community's treasures, such as libraries or historical markers.
5. It's fun.
Plain and simply, Pokemon Go is a fun game to play. Whether you're catching new Pokemon, finding a new Pokestop, or challenging a Gym to defend your team, Pokemon Go is enticing and exciting to all of its players. After all, there is a reason that this game is taking the world by storm.
