5 Reasons Why Plus Size Shopping Sucks

I recently went shopping, or shall I say hunting, for a dress. Now don't get me wrong I love shopping, but being plus size sometimes makes this a difficult ordeal. While there are stores and brands aimed specifically at plus size shoppers, there are still some major issues that makes shopping difficult.

1. If you're shopping at a store that sells both standard and plus size clothing, you will most likely have a hard time finding the plus size section as they tend to be smaller and secluded.

2. Plus size sections are so small and don't tend to carry a great variety of styles nor sizes and when you find something you like, the odds are you might not find the size you're looking for.

3. Plus size clothing seems to be constructed for the tall, hourglass shaped, with no belly plus size woman.Yet, I'm short, don't have an hour glass shape, and have a belly. So who is this clothing really being made for me?

4. Oh and lets not forget those that make plus size clothing that look like robes or look like I pulled the curtain off my window and threw it on as my outfit of the day.

5. Shopping for a good outfit is like looking for the needle in the haystack. The pretty outfits exist, but they're just really really hard to find.

Shopping should be fun and relaxing. Yet, as a plus size woman I'm either forced to pay much more for brands especially catered for plus size women or spend enormous amount of times at a normal brand that offers plus sizes. Why is it so difficult to shop for clothes, when so many women wear over a size 14? It's time for brands to start realizing that plus size fashion is important, not only will we get better clothes but brands will profit.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
