I speak for one of many of those in my age group when I say "I love Pinterest." Pinterest is amazing. Pinterest is addictive. SO addictive. I don't have to use my account for weeks at a time but once I'm on it, I feel like I can't get off. Pinterest is chock full of genius ideas from DIY Coconut Oil Lotion Bars to things that actually might matter.
So why is Pinterest so great?
1. DIY, DIY, DIY!!
Truthfully, I had no idea what DIY even stood for before I became acquainted with Pinterest. DIY projects, or Do-It-Yourself, provide creative, fun, and inexpensive projects you can use to spruce up your life. My "DIY board" ranges from pins regarding body care, decorations, the whole shebang. It's so much fun to try the projects too, that is, until your melted crayon art turns out to be melted crayon mush.
2. Last minute gift ideas? Got 'cha covered!
I'm constantly searching for gift ideas on that website. Either I have no idea what to get somebody for a birthday, graduation, or Christmas present, or it's the morning of their party, and I still don't even have a greeting card picked out. Pinterest is home to many gift ideas; some pins advertise "Easy DIY Christmas Gifts", "Birthday Gifts Under $5" or "DIY Gifts People ACTUALLY Want" (That one's my favorite).
3. RECIPES.
Recipes on Pinterest is almost the equivalent of the short fast-motion videos being shared on Facebook of yummy foods being made. Adorable desserts, delicious drinks, creative breakfasts...it's all there. They make salads look even more mouth-watering than a slice of your favorite pizza.
4. Motivation
One of the boards I look at the most is my "Get In Shape!" board. It consists of workouts, meal plans, and other ways to get healthier. Honestly, having that to look at on a social media platform I use so often is even more motivation to go out and do it. The workouts and diets you look up on Pinterest are so beneficial; some are very creative too!
5. Getting Ideas!...from Other Ideas!
" Tattoo Ideas", "Makeup Ideas", "Hairstyle Ideas", and "Nail Ideas" are just a few "idea"-esque boards I have on my account. It's awesome to be able to save ideas you think are awesome, especially when you may have never thought of it before.
In conclusion, Pinterest is honestly the best thing ever. Be careful, though, as Pinterest is powerfully addicting. In fact, as I write this at 10:30 at night, wanting to sleep from a long day, I think I'm going to save more "At Home Spa Treatment" and "23 Different Ways to Decorate Your Home" pins.
