PUT DOWN YOUR PHONE

5 Reasons To Not Use Your Phone During Fireworks

Okay people, it’s summer. This means the wonderful month of July. Which means the 4th of July. Which means fireworks! I love looking up the schedule for the state of Connecticut and seeing all of the different places they will be doing firework displays. Throughout the entire month of July and even August there are different displays being shown which gives you so many opportunities to watch amazing shows. It is a chance to hang out with family and friends before you watch the fireworks, and then sit back and relax while you watch them. There is one thing that gets super annoying though while watching fireworks and that is everyone’s cell phones… PUT THEM DOWN.

1. You are not a photographer.

I doubt you are a photographer. If you are, you wouldn't be using your cell phone, you would be using your actual, expensive camera. You would be changing the aperture, not the filter being used.

2. We are watching the same thing you are, Snapchatting it is pointless.

I saw that purple one, and the one that looks like sparklers, and that really cool one that turned into a heart when it burst. STOP POSTING IT TO YOUR SNAP STORY. I am just going to skip through it and so is everyone else.

3. You will not look at the pictures again.

For a few years straight I took pictures on my phone of fireworks. And each year, I would upload them to my computer the day after I took them. I would look at them that day, and I don’t think I have looked at them once ever since. I have a bunch of random firework display pictures on my computer somewhere and I don’t even know where to look anymore.

4. They don’t look as good through a screen.

Seriously though. They don’t look as good behind your phone. When you are trying to take pictures or videos through your phone, you are staring at them through the screen. The colors are not as bright, and it looks a lot smaller. Just lock your phone and look up. Trust me, it’ll look so much better.

5. The light gets distracting to those behind you.

Just like at the movie theater, the light from your phone gets annoying. We don’t like to see it. I want to avoid looking at it, but just like when you’re reading a good book and your eyes jump down the page and spoil it for you, my eyes keep jumping to your screen. Just please put it away.

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.

From sea to shining sea, the United States was uniquely positioned for an incredible Aurora Borealis display on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2024, going into Friday, Oct. 11.

It was the second time this year after an historic geomagnetic storm in May 2024. Those Northern Lights were visible in Europe and North America, just like this latest rendition.

To My Loving Boyfriend,

  • Thank you for all that you do for me
  • Thank you for working through disagreements with me
  • Thank you for always supporting me
  • I appreciate you more than words can express
  • You have helped me grow and become a better person
  • I can't wait to see where life takes us next
  • I promise to cherish every moment with you
  • Thank you for being my best friend and confidante
  • I love you and everything you do

To start off, here's something I don't say nearly enough: thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You do so much for me that I can't even put into words how much I appreciate everything you do - and have done - for me over the course of our relationship so far. While every couple has their fair share of tiffs and disagreements, thank you for getting through all of them with me and making us a better couple at the other end. With any argument, we don't just throw in the towel and say we're done, but we work towards a solution that puts us in a greater place each day. Thank you for always working with me and never giving up on us.

Because no one ever really leaves.

Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area. Hauppauge is home to people of all kinds. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here. Around the town, there are some just some landmarks and places that only the people of Hauppauge will ever understand the importance or even the annoyance of.
