I don't know about you but growing up I just never understood why some people weren't allowed to watch SpongeBob. I mean what is so bad about a sponge who lives under the sea going jelly fishing and flipping Krabby Patty's all day? Here are some reasons why I think every parent should reconsider their restrictions on this amazing show.

1. Who has better characteristics than SpongeBob?

Does any other show have a sponge who shows what it's like to have amazing work ethic and can never be shot down, all while being funny at the same time? SpongeBob goes out of his way to do anything for his friends and always sees the positive in every situation. He shows what it's like to be a true friend. SpongeBob is always himself even when countless people put him down. Even Squidward, the character who is in a bad mood most of the time, doesn't even make SpongeBob stop being his outgoing self. He failed his boating test thousands of time, but did he give up? No! Do you even know SpongeBob?! That's just not how he rolls. I don't know about you but I think those are some good qualities to have in a cartoon character.

2. No, it will not make your child dumb!

Just because SpongeBob and Patrick aren't the sharpest tools in the shed, doesn't mean it's going to make your child end up exactly like them. My goodness, it is a cartoon! Do you think the generation that grew up with The Three Stooges never ended up with a college degree? Not every show a child watches has to be educational or have super intelligent characters. I think my friends and I turned out pretty good! If you want I can show you my grades!

3. It will make your child happy. Isn't that what every parent wants?

No other show made me laugh as much as SpongeBob did. To me, it was the most creative childhood cartoon. It wasn't educational like Sesame Street but it was enjoyable! What childhood is that when you can only watch educational shows? Not a very fun one, I'll tell you that!

4. Maybe it will actually make your child have a better attitude! *gasp*

As mentioned in the first point, SpongeBob is always super outgoing and can never be taken down by negativity. When a show spreads so much positivity it's not only going to make your child happier but, have a better outlook on life. I am not saying SpongeBob is the only way for a child to see the good in all things, but I do think that is what SpongeBob's character truly exemplifies. On occasion, SpongeBob will show the realness of everyday life through creative ways, which is a good thing! When SpongeBob has his downs he always brings himself back up. The show was obviously made for entertainment but when you think about it SpongeBob is actually not that bad of a role model to have.

5. Honestly, what is so inappropriate about the jokes children will never understand?

Sure there are jokes that are much funnier for adults than children on the show, but that just makes it enjoyable for all audiences! Do you honestly think that a line that a character says for about two seconds will be imprinted into your child's brain? The main quotes I remember from SpongeBob are the ones I actually understood at the time. Now when I watch it back, I realize all of the slight jokes that refer to things only adults would understand, but I definitely never noticed them before! I am so happy that I was able to watch Spongebob with my parents. It was something we could enjoy as a family. Even my Dad and I constantly make SpongeBob references! I think he loves it just as much as me!

I am so glad that I was allowed to watch Spongebob as a little kid. Even my friends and I now, constantly quote Spongebob. There are just so many instances where a Spongebob quote is completely necessary. It was by far the best childhood show and I feel bad for kids that aren't allowed to watch it. I hope you parents out there will finally see the good in the show! Hey, just lighten up a little bit!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
