5 Reasons Oklahoma State Homecoming Is The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year
Jeaneth Cardenas

Oklahoma State University is home to the brightest orange. Each year, OSU puts on America's Greatest Homecoming. Students and those in Greek Life begin to prepare for the festivities and Alumni from all around gather around in Stillwater, Oklahoma to experience all of the fun and exciting activities going on throughout the week. Below are just some of the reasons why Oklahoma State Homecoming is the most wonderful time of the year.

1. Dying the fountain orange

Dying the fountain orange is a staple to Oklahoma's Homecoming week. It signifies the beginning of the best week ever, and is adored by all who walk past it. As soon as this water turns orange, the entire atmosphere in Stillwater changes and you know it's about to get real.

2. Walk Around

One of the best nights of Homecoming week has got to be Walk Around. All the decks are perfectly displayed in front of the houses, there's food trucks on every corner, the vibe is light and airy and everywhere you look, people are smiling and having a great time.

3. The Parade

Last year at the homecoming parade, tragedy struck. A car crashed into the parade and injured 46 people and killed 4. Nikia Prabhaker Nakal, Marvin Lyle and Bonnie Jeane Stone, and Nash Lucas were the 4 that were killed. This year, the Homecoming Parade paid tribute to these 4 beautiful souls and touched the hearts of many. It reminded everyone how much of a family we really are and why we will always be #StillwaterStrong.

4. The Football Game

It doesn't really matter who we're playing, because no matter what, Boone Pickens Stadium will fill up at the Homecoming game and get insanely loud and rowdy. The players getting ready to come out fills you with anticipation. The game is filled with excitement and has you on the edge of your seat, if you're not standing already. The Cowboy Marching Band and Pom put on a spectacular show during half-time, and the Sea of Orange will give you all of the feels.

5. The Family

The best part about being a Cowboy fan and student is the school spirit and the kinship of it all. Whenever you go to an event, you feel as if you are part of something bigger than yourself. You're surrounded by all these kind and incredible people, and you feel welcomed by everyone. As proven by the hundreds of alumni that visit every year, Oklahoma State University will forever be in your hearts and your family.

Wearing America's Brightest Orange, doesn't just show what school you root for, but it symbolizes being part of the loyal and true, O-S-U!

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant

There's always chaos in the restaurant business.

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant
Brisanis

Working in the restaurant industry is possibly the most fundamentally challenging occupation I have ever experienced when it comes to hospitality and customer service. When you go to a five-star restaurant you expect the time of your life, a two hour getaway, a walk through another time period (rustic Italy, France, Spain, etc), or simply a honeymoon undergo. What you don't see are the behind the scenes scut work: carrying trays, polishing glassware and silverware, kitchen chaos, the list is endless. Now, I'm not saying being a host, server, or bartender is the worst thing in the whole wide world, there are definitely worse things. But the fact of the matter is that it isn't always sunshine and rainbows. In the two years that I have spent in restaurant and customer service, I have spoken my share of expletives, yelled at kitchen staff, and dealt with not-so-happy guests. It isn't easy to keep a bright and shiny smile on your face when all you want to do is choke every person who walks near you. Anyone who has spent even two weeks working in a restaurant understands the rigor and stress that comes with it. Restaurant culture is a tiny world in and of itself that operates on its own principles and creates its own society. It even has its own language. The sayings "runner", "corner", and "on a bus" wouldn't make sense to anyone otherwise. My mother and I both work in a restaurant and the best advice I can give someone going out to eat is to treat us like people. Yes...believe it or not we are people, people. Say "please" and "thank you", or stack your cleared plates before a busser gets to the table. Trust me, the gesture goes a lot farther than you may think.

So, if you work in a restaurant, you can relate with the following points. If not, check out how the brain of a restaurant service (or any customer service) worker actually works. See if you can identify any crazy weird habits your friends have a tendency to partake in.

One of the scariest things we will ever face in our life is going to college. Many of us move away to a new town, join new organizations, and make new friends. We are expected to study, have a social life, relationships, maybe work, and be healthy. It seems pretty easy to do, and in high school all we wanted to do was graduate and move on to this next chapter of our lives. If you are in high school, here are some things that you can learn from before you get to college. If you have already been through your freshman year of college, hopefully you can relate to the things I have learned in college.
