5 Reasons To Be Obsessed With Jaclyn Hill
Jaclyn Hill

If you don’t know who Jaclyn Hill is-you are missing out. She is queen of the YouTube beauty world and an amazing role model for people of all ages. Two years ago I decided I wanted to learn how to actually do my makeup. Much to my luck, this gem popped up in my search for help. I have faithfully subscribed to her YouTube channel and followed her on social media for the last two years and I have loved every second of it. Here are 5 reasons to be obsessed with Jaclyn Hill.

1. Let me just state the obvious. She is beautiful. Like, whoa, is it even possible for someone to be that beautiful, beautiful? Her eyes could probably pierce through your soul in the best way possible and her fiery red hair is everything.

2. Her tweets AND snapchats are fire. Sometimes I sit on my phone just scrolling through her twitter feed to get a good laugh and my day is always made by watching her snap story.

3. HER & JON’S MARRIAGE. I could probably write a whole article on how obsessed I am with their relationship alone but I will spare everyone from that one. Seeing the love they have for each other is the sweetest thing. Whenever he makes those little guest star appearances in her videos I die a little from all the happiness. Their little dance parties and the way they look at each other.. Ugh. Okay you all get the point.

4. Her vocabulary and sense of humor. "AMAZEBALLS" and "butter"y are my top two favorite words that she uses regularly. However just watch her videos for a slue of different words and phrases that will keep you laughing and questioning why you aren’t best friends with her already.

5. She’s real. I have not actually ever met this woman, however I feel as if I have known her for years by watching her videos and keeping up with her on social media. Although to many, her life may seem picture perfect on camera, she is sure to let all her “Hillsters” know that her life is normal and messy just like everyone else’s.

So there you have it, five reasons to be completely and utterly obsessed with Jaclyn Hill. I do understand that some reasons are unconventional and silly, maybe a little stupid even. However, I really do look up to this woman. Not just for her outer beauty, social media savviness, relationship or ability to make me laugh until I cry, but I look up to her because in the midst of all the fame being thrown her way, to me, she still seems like the same amazing person she would be without it all. Love her or hate her, she is queen. My blending and contouring skills would not be what they are today without her, and for that Jaclyn Hill, I salute you.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
