5 Reasons 'My Name Is Earl' Is The Greatest

Taking a break of my political rants, I break down why "My Name Is Earl" is the greatest show.

From 2005 to 2009 the show "My Name Is Earl" ran on NBC. Over the course of these four seasons, I fell in love with the characters and storylines of the show. Watching it with my mother every week is still one of the fondest moments of my childhood. Here are the top five reasons why "My Name Is Earl" is one of the greatest television shows of all time.

1. The Humor

It is incredibly hilarious. From simple slapstick to jokes with a little more depth, "My Name Is Earl" would provide at least a handful of laughs each episode.

2. The Crabman

My personal favorite character. The Crabman was perhaps the most intelligent and gentle of all the characters on the show. It was not uncommon for him to drop bits of wisdom on Earl and the others. Also, Mr. Turtle.

3. Jason Lee Shreds

While Jason Lee is an excellent actor and I enjoy almost everything he has been in, many do not know that his first profession was skateboarding. And boy did he shred. The man popularized the 360-Flip, for goodness sakes.

4. Brothers

Earl and Randy are the television brothers that I wish I had. The two constantly look out for each other and make sure the other is okay and happy. While the two do have the occasional spat, it is nothing a little brotherly love can't fix.

5. Karma

The central theme of the show. Karma is the idea that what goes around comes around, and "My Name Is Earl" does an excellent job of presenting it in a humorous light. It also does a great job of showing the benefit of doing good for our fellow humans.

"My Name Is Earl" ranks high on my list of favorite shows. It is full of laughs and endearing characters. If you have not yet, give it a watch because after all, like Karma, it's a funny thing.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.
