5 Reasons My Mom Is My Rock
Krista Sinclair

Well, I've survived my first two weeks of college. Which means my first two weeks of living away from home. And the one thing I have definitely noticed was how much I really relied on my mom when I lived at home. So, here are five important reasons my mom will always be my rock.

1. My mom has watched me cry and seen me through every sickness (which includes her cleaning up my vomit), every heartbreak, the death of a friend, and so much more. And she has always stayed strong for me, no matter how hard it may actually be on her. That is exactly what I will absolutely always need, someone to keep me steady when I'm unsteady and she does just that.

2. My mom is my best friend. She is the only person I can be fighting with one minute, and giggling with the next. Friends will hold grudges and get angry and turn away when you're like that. But my mommy doesn't.

3. Sorry dad, but my mom is my go-to. When I need something or someone, I can almost guarantee you my first call is my mom. She has the answer for everything, and if by chance she doesn't, she can direct me in the right direction to get my answer. Whether it's a question about how to study, how to do laundry or I'm just bored and need someone to talk to, she's there.

4. My mom wants the best for me. I know you're probably thinking "all moms want the best for their children" but I know that my mom has sacrificed so much for me just to give me the things I want and need. I can't think of how many times my mom has wanted to go somewhere or do something, but I would beg her to take me somewhere and she would give up her plans to keep me happy. And that is something that I will always appreciate.

5. My mom knows me better than anyone else. She always gives me the best gifts and knows just what I want or need without me actually telling her. She understands my stress levels and knows how and when to approach me when those stress levels are at all time highs. She understands that I'm cranky sometimes and I will snap at her, but she knows I don't mean the things I say. She knows just what kind of guy I'm attracted to and will always point them out to me when we're in public.

Long story short, I don't know what I would do without my mom. No matter how old I am, one thing is for sure: I will ALWAYS need my mom. You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. I love you, Mom!

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. You feel like you will have never-ending classwork to catch up on if you miss class, so you end up going sick and then it just takes longer to get better. Being sick in college is really tough and definitely not a fun experience. Here are the 15 stages that everyone ends up going through when they are sick at college.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
