If you have never been to a music festival, then you're missing out on a whole new world. Festivals are filled with good people, good vibes, and even greater music and food! I went to my first festival last May called EDC (which stands for Electric Daisy Carnival) in NY. EDC that year was definitely one of the best experiences of my life, and attending that festival has changed me in some aspects as a person. You're probably wondering how on Earth going to a festival could change someone because after all, its just a festival right? Wrong. You're about to understand why music festivals should be the highlight of your summer!

1. The Food

I'm starting off with the most important aspect of the festival: the food, because who doesn't love food?! You will be amazed as to how many different food trucks and vendors you will find at these fests. There are an array of options and something to please everyone. There's ice cream, Belgian waffles, burgers, loaded fries, salads, wraps, etc. There's virtually anything you could think of, and it's all delicious!!!

2. The People

The people are what make the whole experience, to be honest. I'm not going to say that everyone is friendly, but I am willing to bet that 99% of them are. Almost everyone you meet at a festival is super kind and positive. People will go out of their way to help you find something or just to stop and introduce themselves and send you good vibes.

3. The Atmosphere

EDC, especially, is known for its huge decorative stages and its colorful light shows. From the moment you walk in, to the moment you leave, it's almost as if you're in a completely different world. There are dancers in costume, lit up rides and art installations, and stages that breathe fire and set off fireworks. It's difficult to put this experience into words, but the atmosphere of a festival can take you out of reality for a couple days.

4. You Can Be Yourself.

Perhaps the best part about these festivals is that you can be yourself. So for example, if you want to run around the festival wearing a panda onesie with a superman cape, then you totally can without being judged. People actually would think it was funny and awesome, and many wear outrageous outfits anyway. Everyone is so carefree and kind, you would never have to be afraid of being yourself.

5. The Music

A music festival wouldn't exist without the music and performers! This is hands down the most exciting part about going because you get to see not just one, but many of your favorite DJs and performers. There is something for everyone, and the hardest part is making a list of people you want to see.

5. The Memories

My favorite part of festivals are the memories that you make while you're there because it's true that they last a lifetime. Think about it, you get to spend a whole weekend with your friends and see your favorite artists. How can it get better than that?? You will make a million memories and those memories will keep you coming back for more.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
