5 Reasons I Want to Move to Chicago
Who's Driving You

I've lived everywhere. From big city to small town, and everywhere in between, I've done it all. I love the school I'm at. It's in a cute little town and it's not hard to get around. While visiting Chicago, however, I was reminded how much I love being in the city.

There are so many reasons I'm actually considering living in Chicago one day. It is such a great city. Every time I'm there, I never want to leave. There is so much to do and I am always captivated by its beauty. I feel at home in the city. Here are just five reasons why I want to live in Chicago.

1. Everything is close

Usually when we visit, my family takes public transit. It's quicker, easier, and cheaper than driving around the city. However, this past time, we mostly walked everywhere we went. Although it seems like things are quite a trip, in the city, everything is so close together. There are plenty of things to walk to if you don't feel like traveling far. When you have so many great places that are so close, you never get bored!

2. There are so many food options

When I say many, I mean endless. American, Italian, Hispanic, Mediterranean, you name it, they have it. Chicago is great for foodies. Not only do they have a huge variety of cultural foods, they also have their own. Yes I'm talking deep dish pizza and Chicago dogs. How I went nineteen years without ever tasting the hot dog of where I'm from, is beyond me. But this last trip I had my first at Wrigley field. Probably the best hotdog I have had in my life. It's a good thing I would walk a lot in the city, because I sure would eat a lot too.

3. The Cubs
Honestly, need I say more? Not only are they the best team, they are my favorite. I just went to my first Cubs game and it was unbelievable. I watch their games on TV all the time, but nothing compares to actually being at Wrigley Field.

4. It is fast paced

I am the type of person who always has to be doing something. I like going places and doing new things. Whenever I go to the city, I truly feel like I fit into the busy environment. I am not a mall walker, so I love that everyone knows where they're going and moves with a purpose.

5. The city is beautiful

Chicago is truly stunning. The skyline is magnificent. Lake Michigan looks so nice right alongside. The riverwalk is a pretty sight to look at year round. The snow falls onto the city just right. While walking down the street, notice the intricate designs on the buildings. The architecture is incredible. Everything about Chicago is magnificent.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
