It’s time to talk about everyone’s favorite childhood movie: "The Princess Diaries." This movie franchise also happened to be one of those rare occasions when the sequel was just as good as the first one (okay, the first one is definitely better, but the second one isn’t laughably worse, so I consider that a success.) Consequently, there ended up being multiple suitors for Mia, starting with Josh Bryant (ew) and then Michael Moscovitz in the first film, followed by Andrew Jacoby, Duke of Kenilworth and Nicholas in the second. Everyone hates the self-absorbed Josh Bryant who just uses Mia to get his 15 minutes of fame, and Andrew Jacoby clearly has no chemistry with Mia, so most people favor Nicholas, who she does end up with in the end. But what about Michael??? People often forget about him when he doesn’t appear in the second movie because he’s touring with his band (what’s up with that, by the way) but after watching the first movie, you can’t help but agree that they belong together! Here are five reasons why Michael is far superior to every other romantic interest of Mia.

1) He’s quietly funny.

Never forget his response when Mia asks him what Josh Bryant just asked her: “Can I borrow a comb?” Someone who can crack jokes like this off the cuff, but isn’t in-your-face about it, is definitely a keeper. He gets bonus points for making fun of Josh Bryant too.

2) “He fixes cars. He plays guitar. And he can sing.”

“He is so hot!” “He is wicked sweet!” Enough said.

3) He appreciates a disgusting, yet adorable apology.

And he makes sure the pizza man with the extremely long beard doesn't make the pizzas. He knows to ask the right questions.

4) They were already friends.

Michael is Lily’s brother, and Lily is Mia’s best friend, so that almost makes them friends by default. He works on Mia’s car for her and invites her to come see his band, so clearly they’ve enjoyed each other’s company multiple times and already established their friendship.

5) He saw her when she was invisible!!

This is the greatest reason there is! Michael liked Mia before she got her stereotypical makeover where her hair was de-frizzed and her eyebrows (Frida and Kahlo) were trimmed, and before she became extremely popular when her high school found out she was a princess. Before this reveal, Mia was either bullied or ignored by almost everyone in school except for the Moscovitz siblings. Yes, Nicholas, you’re pretty attractive and you’ve got the whole “I declined assuming the throne so that you can rule the country because I love you” thing going for you, but did you see Mia when she was invisible?! I didn’t think so.

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
