5 Reasons Media Needs to Stop Caring About the Kardashians

When people hear that I am from Calabasas, the one family name that is always brought up is "The Kardashians." "Do you know them? Is Kylie really a bit**? Do you see them at restaurants and parties?

There are more important things going on in the world, like a woman getting stoned to death in Afghanistan, the UC Merced Stabbings, or Syrian Refuges!

I am sure many of you heard about Kylie Jenner's 18th birthday and how her rapper boyfriend bought her a brand new Ferrari? Well, that was also the birthday of Malala, an advocate for education in Pakistan who was shot by the Taliban for her efforts. Let's go over this.

1. Malala opened a school that day.

Kylie got a Ferrari.

Who do you think received more media attention?

2. They are famous for being famous.

Yes, Robert Kardashian was well known in O.J. Simpson's trial, but that surely did not get the Kardashians to where they are now.

Since around 2006, Kim has been weaving her way into the L.A. Socialite scene. She was seen partying with Paris Hilton as her BFF, dating Jessica Simpson's ex, Nick Lachey, and had a sex tape with rapper Ray J that was leaked on the Internet.

In an interview with Oprah, Kim claims the sex tape introduced her to the world in a negative way and that she did not leak it because it humiliates her family. However, her family's fame seems to feed off of it? There have even been some reported claims (Perez Hilton, Huffington Post, Daily Mail UK) that Kris Jenner helped Kim with the idea of the sex tape and the release of it. Kim Kardashian is not the first woman to make a sex tape and her family should not have an empire because of this.

3. They are terrible role models.

Their episodes rarely have positive messages for females watching, especially young women who look up to them. Yes, they do show their insecurities, similar to ones many women face, but they do not handle them in an empowering way. Instead, Kylie is insecure about her thin lips, so she artificially plumps them to the maximum.

Kim claims "Kendall has one of those perfect bodies." Not to mention, her latest tweet throwbacks to how she misses "the skinny days." What is wrong with her body? How do you think that made the curvy ladies, who are insecure with their bodies because of many reasons society has bestowed upon them that I will write about another time, feel? It made them feel like there is something wrong with them, because Kim is famous and successful, so she must be right. Some people do not have kick ass teachers and family to look up to, and they learn from the people we help make famous like the Kardashians.

4. This guy.

Self-explanatory...

I could go on forever.

5. Do You

Although, I could write so much more. The last and most important thing is you have so many better things to do in your life than Keep Up With The Kardashians...read a book! Stop complaining that you "don't have time" to read, when you have time to watch Kourtney give Khloé a bikini wax.

Watch a documentary on deforestation, ride a bike, listen to music, gain new perspectives, watch paint dry! Anything is more stimulating for your brain than trying to keep up with the Kardashians.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
