Logic recently released "1-800-273-8255" in an attempt to draw attention to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, or NSPL. Whether you like Logic or not, this is definitely worth listening to. Some listeners are not found of the song because it is "drawing" attention to suicide, but in my opinion, it is the best song ever released. The name of it is the NSPL number and if this doesn't explain how amazing the song is, I'm not sure what can, but I'll try.
1. Logic made this song with fans in mind
He made this song because he had gotten feedback from fans that his songs had helped them through rough times, but he felt as though he hadn't done enough. He felt he needed to do something extreme that could help people in ways that were unimaginable.
2. It is about more than just suicide
This song is not just about suicide. It is about the events and struggles leading up to feeling like suicide is the only option. There are so many reasons that people feel like suicide is the only option and Logic incorporates this in the lyrics as well as the music video.
3. Logic isn't the only one singing
In order to make this video more meaningful, Logic teamed up with Khalid and Alessia Cara. By having two other artists singing with him, it shows people struggling that there are people that care. Although NSPL is not singing, Logic also partnered with them and that's even more people that care.
4. He performed it at the VMAs
Not only did Logic, Khalid and Alessia Cara sing the song at the VMAs but a group of people wearing white shirts with the NSPL number on the front and "You are not alone" on the back came and stood on various areas of the stage with tears and their eyes. After the song, Logic delivered a very heartfelt speech speaking to everyone about how the mainstream media doesn't want to talk about mental illnesses but it needs to be discussed and that's what his new album "Everyone" will be doing.
5. Anyone who is struggling can think of the name of the song and know the number
Logic is popular. This song is popular. People are going to remember it and it will mean a lot to people who are struggling with mental illnesses. It is a very emotional song and it speaks to many people.
Be watching for the new album "Everybody" on May 5 to hear his amazing songs on repeat everywhere you go.
