Pregnancy while beautiful, can be a pain in the butt. Especially during the winter. Between staying safe and not breaking the bank, the effort is real.
Reason 1: You don't ever want to go outside when it's icy. Which is reasonable because you don't want to fall and risk hurting the baby, but a simple walk to the car can easily turn into a minefield. Especially if you need to walk up or down stairs in your adventures.
Reason 2: Driving in the snow goes from "I really don't want to." to an "I really shouldn't" Which is hard when you have to get to work or run errands, but even if you're a safe driver, doesn't mean anyone else is. Being pregnant means you're endangering your life and your baby's if you decide to drive in bad conditions. And of course, some jobs just won't let you call out. And in that event just take it slow and steady. Sometimes you can't avoid driving.
Reason 3: You're supposed to eat pretty healthy when you're pregnant, but winter brings along so many treats! There are cookies, and pies, and so many other sweet treats. But for pregnancies, there are dietary restrictions, and some lucky moms-to-be have even more restrictions. So put down the cold-cut platter at the Christmas party, and pick up the veggie tray.
Reason 4: All the snow and all the holidays in this season can cause issues scheduling OBGYN appointments, and depending on how far along you are this can be a huge pain in the butt. If you're at the point of only needing one a month, it's not that bad. But for all the woman who need appointments once a week or once every two weeks, good luck. OBGYN doctors can be closed for the holiday, and doctors can take time off, it's all very tedious when trying to schedule your appointment. Working around their schedule, holidays, and your personal and work schedules. Talk about stress.
Reason 5: Along with all the baby things you're purchasing, the extra food you're buying, and routine bills, you get stuck Christmas shopping. Having a baby is expensive enough, between doctor bills, getting the nursery together, and stocking up on diapers and wipes; the last thing you want to do is worry about how you're going to afford Christmas presents. Tis' the season for coupons!
