We all have best friends who we can run to when we need to gossip about boy drama, need a shoulder to cry on or just have random movie nights with. My best friend just so happens to be a guy I met in the seventh grade. Some people think we date or look at us weird because I’m a girl and he’s a guy and to society it’s just plain “weird.” Well, I think every girl should have a guy best friend just because life just seems to go a little smoother. So here are my top five reasons why every girl should have a guy best friend like I do.
1. Dates to every school dance
With my guy best friend, I never had to worry about who I was going to ask to school dances, especially prom. You never have to worry about getting rejected by a guy, what your dressed looked like or how your makeup looked. Your best friend will accept you for what you look like and will never say no to you.
2. Fake Boyfriend
Sometimes, guys approach you and you just really don’t want anything to do with them. I can always use my best friend and say he’s my boyfriend and he’ll go along with it. Sometimes, the roles can be reversed. It always works out great!
3. A lot less drama
Guys don’t gossip, simple as that. So I know whenever I tell my best friend something, he won’t go telling other people about it. Guys don’t like causing drama as much as girls do so don’t be afraid to tell your guy friend something. There’s a 99 percent chance he’ll forget about it the next day anyways.
4. Truth be told
My best guy friend will be straightforward with me. When I’m over exaggerating about something, he’ll tell me to stop being so dramatic. When I’m wearing something ugly, he’ll tell me. I know that sounds a little harsh, but I like knowing the truth rather than what I want to hear. So when you ask a guy “do these jeans make me look fat?” Don’t be mad when his response is “yes.”
5. Adventure time
If you’re sick of the usual mall trip, then you’re in luck! Guys hate shopping (except my guy best friend). My best friend takes me on trips to downtown Chicago, North Side shopping, dinner “date nights” and random late night drives. It’s nice to have someone who likes to do different things like going on adventures and likes to explore the city, especially when he pays
My best friend has been in my life since I was 13 years old. We’ve been friends for six years and it’s been the best six years of my life. He’s always been there when I needed a shoulder to cry on, dates to my dances, birthdays and every holiday on the calendar. We’ve fought plenty of times, but I wouldn’t change anything.
